I noticed a little bump in Axel's mouth a few weeks ago. Then I saw it again today but it has grown. Anyone seen this before? He has a vet appointment in three days but I'm so nervous and freaking out.

I'm sorry I don't know either. It looks like a kind of wart to me. Could you take a photo and send it to your Vet? maybe you could get an earlier appointment if you are really worried. Hope you are OK, these dogs of ours are such a worry at times. xx

I just called them plus another vet clinic (who was closed) and they told me not to worry, that a few days isn't going to make a difference as well as said it's not urgent. I guess made me feel a bit more calm but I'm still thinking the worst :(

I'm glad you called the vet. I know it's hard not to worry and everyone will tell you not to but will it's human nature, we love our dogs. In a few days Axel will be seen by the vet and you will have a diagnosis. Carry on as normal, keep an eye on it, if anything changes just call the vet again. Let us know how he gets on xx

It looks like a wart to me, too. There was another thread on this recently and someone else actually came up with the medical name. If it is the same thing, Brogan caught this as a teenager. The vet said it was a kind of like a doggie STD if the "s" stands for "social" because they get it from playing with other dogs who are affected. Most common in dogs who go to dog parks or doggie daycare. In Brogan's case it was completely harmless, I just had to keep him away from other dogs for a few weeks until he was no longer contagious. The lesion went away on it's own. I'd still check with your vet, but that info may help you to worry less until your appointment.

Stanley had some warts in his mouth the other week.

They've really gone down again now and are just little spots :)

Axel only has the one that I can see and it started out really small. Did you notice Stanley's before it got bigger? And how long did it last?

There's a pic of Stanleys in that one. I didn't notice them until they were big.

They've pretty much gone now so I'd say 2 weeks. They didn't seem to bother him or anything. I just kept an eye on him.

I rang the vets and they said just to keep an eye on them for a few days and they started to get smaller so we never actually took him. Should've done really.

Hmm ok, hard to tell in the picture but they don't look quite the same as Axel's one bump:(. It's white and bumpy. Just checked to see if there were anymore, still just the one. Tomorrow can't come soon enough.

Ok just dropped Axel off at the vet. He is actually getting neutered today (such a hard decision) anyways, they took a look at it and said it's just a wart. Phew!

At least that's one thing off your mind.

Hope he's not too groggy when you pick him up later :)

Picked him up a few hours ago. He was a big suck and wanted to be on my lap. He's sleeping away now and I'm bunking with him on the floor tonight in the living room. Hopefully we get some sleep.

    They also removed the papilloma

Hope Axel (and you) had a good night. When Cooper was neutered he didn't have to wear the cone....he was not interested in his "surgery" area! And he was right as rain the next day so don't be surprised of Axel is full of beans.....the boys get over their surgery quicker than the girls.....snip,snip for the boys.....much more for the girls. Axel does look miserable in the cone, poor guy!!!

He is pretty miserable with it on, keeps bumping into walls. Poor puppy. I tried not having the cone on but he was too persistent. Will try again today and see if he bothers the area. The cone is a real pain! He's super bouncy and excited this morning so far.

Thankfully he slept all night :D
