Someone who really know their stuff please can you check out 'Burgess Rich in British Chicken' Puppy food. The nutritional info looks good. We use Burgess for our giant French lop rabbit and it is the best on the market. Wondered if it looks good enough??? Thank you x
I personally wouldn't. I don't think that nutritional information looks good at all. 29% protein is low and it only explains what 53% of theingredients are. It's also really cheap - I know expense doesn't necessarily equate to quality but the price shocked me. We pay £60 for roughly a same size bag of Stanleys food.
I wouldn't say that 29% protein is necessarily low. The Royal Canin Maxi Puppy food that Luna is currently on is 28% protein. The likes of Orijen is up to 38%, but that's the exception, not the rule. The percentage of the analysis that is not accounted for will be mostly carbohydrate and moisture. Personally, I prefer to feed a puppy food that is appropriate for larger breeds, as it's designed to promote proper rates of growth.
It's a bit difficult to say much about it. The quantities of protein and carbs etc. are typical and you are feeding Wheat, Poultry Meat Meal, Maize, Fish Meal and Poultry Fat. It isn't possible to say anything about the quality of the meat meal (and it's not necessarily bad that it's in second place on the list - fresh meat could appear first but be much lower down without the water it contains). It looks like a run of the mill kibble to me, and no doubt many dogs all around the country do just fine on such food. I personally wouldn't feed it, because Orijen suits my puppy and I think that's better - so I feed a much higher protein level.
