Hey all. I'm Amber, I live in Maryland with the fam. Me, Chris and our 2 girls age 4 & 6. We have a small papillon who is 7 and I just lost my best girl, Lady our 13 year old Chocolate Lab in October. Lady was the best best dog ever. We had her many years before children, her and I did obedience, field trials and all kinds of adventures, camping, boating, etc, etc. I am here to learn again all about pups and what to expect. I am in touch with 2 local breeders to adopt a new pup sometime hopefully in the spring. I am very nervous. I know it's a huge commitment and I am super scared on picking a perfect match pup for our lifestyle. Hoping to gain any insight and tips on picking the perfect pup for a family lifestyle. Thank you so much!! -amber
Hi Amber and welcome from me, Hattie 9 years and our rescue boy Charlie 6 years. I am so sorry you lost your best girl Lady I hope a new puppy will help fill the whole in your heart just a little. I suggest you buy Pippa's books, The Happy Puppy Handbook which has everything you need to know about preparing and raising a new puppy also Total Recall which helps with training. Good luck with your search and keep us up to date please xx
Hi Amber. Welcome to the forum. There must be a big hole in your family with the loss of Lady. I hope your puppy quest is successful. I'll second Helen's recommendation of The Happy Puppy Handbook. Really great advice about coping with puppies!
Hi Amber from me & Coco. Sorry to hear about Lady, it sounds like she really lived life to the full with you. What's your Papillon called?
