well I went to work for 2 hours this morning, came back to Axel with his cone no longer on and blood on the left over cone. He chewed his cone off, and ate the string and maybe 1/4 of the cone.

I'm stressed and nervous for the outcome. We just came from the vets. They gave us high fiber food to help compact all the plastic shards and in hopes to compact the string so it doesn't do any damage.

Now a waiting game to see if the string comes out. :(

Oh no, I can imagine how worried you are but hopefully the vet food will help. How on earth did he get it off to eat it? I really hope Axel will be OK. xx

Well he had a normal poop. Then I fed him the fiber food and he had a 'cow pie' poop with plastic bits but still no string.

I won't be able to relax until it comes out:(

I don't know! I wish I had a camera. Although I suspect he chewed it off from the inside part of the cone while still wearing it. I don't think he could have pulled it off with out eating some of it first.

    Sigh!!

And guess what arrived today. His blow up cone that I ordered so he would be more comfortable. Why couldn't it have shown up yesterday :(:(

Oh Axel you egg o_O I'm sure he'll be fine but I understand why you're anxious. Hopefully it all comes out quickly and he doesn't let it percolate for days in his tum.

Axel has made a stand for all dogs made to wear cones! "humans put these horrid things round your neck but you don't have to put up with it!"

Axel just had breakfast and had a very small solid poop. Very small and clumpy .... don't know if I should be happy or more worried

I've only just seen this - what a worry for you. A number of dogs on here have eaten non-food items and been ok so fingers crossed for you and Axel.

It has been 3 days since Axel ate his cone and the string. He has been pooping out little plastic bits but still no sign of the string. We woke up this morning to him throwing up. No string or plastic was in that. It was mostly bile... which I'm narrowing down to the fact he must not be getting as much food with this canned fiber food vs his kibble. Definitely noticeable as I could see all his ribs this morning. Lucky for him he has no more canned food and will be back on his kibble for dinner tonight.

He's still his typical playful self, happy, bouncey, being a little brat , eating each meal as if he hasn't eaten in months (this is how he always eats)

But yet still no string!! It's driving me crazy having to play this waiting game.

I would imagine that if the string was causing any harm then he wouldn't be happy and bright..?

I am sure he is fine....if there was a problem I don't think he would be behaving normally :)
    They are a worry though!

Tatze is the expert of swallowing things then vomiting them up 2 weeks later
Did he 100% eat the string, no possibility of it being "hidden" anywhere or accidentally discarded on clearing up?
    (just a thought)
