Just got a call from the vet. Said Axel is doing very good. They have been feeding him small portions often and he's been able to hold it down. They praised me for how great he is with being touched and fiddled with. It's something I always did and still do, little exams at home so he gets used to being touched all over. He pulled his IV fluid out this morning, guess he had had enough of that he hasn't thrown up which is good. But he hasn't poo'd either, which is a bit frustrating. But we get to pick him up tonight. She wants to do a weigh in on him in a week to make sure he gains weight and do weigh ins each week for a month. His stitches are well enough healed that we can go on walks again and no more cones Ahhhh praying we don't get woken up at 2am to him throwing up. Hoping this is behind us
Oh, glad he's well enough to come home - that must be a massive relief to you Luna sends gentle kisses (with the occasional nibble because she just can't help herself).
Good news on Axel. I am happy to hear that he is doing better and will be back home. I hope he continues to show improvement and get back to his typical awesome Axel : )
Axel says he happily accepts gentle kisses and nibbles and would happily let Luna jump all over him and play. He says puppies are his favvvvourite
Well, the string they said would have balled up into a tiny ball due to how delicate it was. So they think he either has passed it already or he hasn't, hence the upset tummy. But that the only way for me to be sure is to go outside and cut up all of his poop and look. WELL, more then half his poop is gone because we picked it up and tossed it. They did tell me that it could be a couple weeks or more before it passes too. So it really is up in the air and I'm just to monitor him. If he throws up again we have to go back straight away to do more X-rays with barium. Every time Axel moved last night I think I woke up, bracing myself to hear him throw up. But thankfully he didn't! I feel positive though, that the worst is behind us. Let's hope my gut feeling is right.
Glad you're feeling positive! Re the string - that's why I asked if you dissected the poo, cos things that go in in one shape come out quite differently!
Kind of embarrassing to admit, but I thought it would come out as a string still! I pictured a string hanging out his bum. I had a Pomeranian as a kid who ate the tinsel off the Christmas tree and she had tinsel hanging out her butt for a little bit when she finally passed it
