Hope Pongo enjoys his sleep over. I'm sure he will be on his best behavior and be a very welcome guest
When we went away we decided to stop at the times Vanilla would normally go to toilet, as we thought it would help her. Biggest mistake we made. A trip that was long enough added an extra 3hours and not once did she go. She did not go until we got there and not until about an hour later. Might be worth a consideration.
Not at all! You need bed snacks! You're not telling me that Coco doesn't get special bed snacks, are you?!
Guilty of dog-abuse! He has a light supper before bed, but no special bed snack. I feel a cruelty charge coming on..
It went OK! Hoorah! He was very excited to be in a new house, but settled down as soon as he realised there was FOOD being served and more than one person willing to share. Then snoozed nicely while we played games in the evening. What was weird was that as it got later he got very excited, really wanting to get out of the house (although he didn't really need a pee); not distressed, all tail-happy-waggy, just as though he knew it was nearly bedtime and he needed to go and find his own home now and this wasn't it so obviously it must be out there so let's go find it mum and dad, come on come on we need to go find it.... We took him for nice long-ish walk round the block (no poo, lots of marking though) and then I settled him down on his bed in the kitchen with a bedtime biscuit and his usual night-time routine, and left him....I could hear him pacing around the room for five minutes, then settling down. He seemed to sleep through OK, our friends' bedroom is next door and they didn't hear a peep. Then we took him round the block again this morning and he eventually produced the. most. enormous. poo. ever. And looked happy about it We are back home now and he is fast asleep and dreaming, curled up on His Sofa on His Cushions in His House. Good boy. Thanks to forum friends for all the advice!
Well done Pongo. Have you ever tried taking him for a pub meal? That might be a nice challenge for him.
