Hello guys! Please help me on this. I will have my pup this February 12. So I want to make things right at first if possible. And another question, do I need a crate for him or just a barricade and a sleeping bed for him, I want to let him sleep in my room. Pleaseeeee!
I used a crate on both of my boys and I strongly recomend you to do so too. It just makes a lot of things easier like housetraining and its also a safe place to keep your puppy when you cant have a look on him for a few minutes! and of course we demand on puppy pics once the little fellow is home
Hello and welcome! Yes a crate is generally a good idea, especially if you want him sleeping in your room. Don't think of it as a cage; it is more like a safe sleeping den for your puppy. Good for you for thinking ahead! 12 February will be here very soon...
Hello and welcome to the forum. Yes, get a crate for your pup he will feel safe in it if you cover it with a blanket. Have you read Pippa's The Happy Puppy book? If not I would get a copy of it, it is a great book with lots of information to help you with your puppy.
Then a crate then! Actually I'm thinking this stuffs for a week. Haha. Do you have an email or fb? I do really have a lot of questions.
I draped my crate with lots of blankets so she has her privacy. It stands in the corner of my room. Door is always open. She goes there when she wants/needs her peace. When you leave the house without her, you need a safe place for her to be. Go for a crate.
My place is also small, but hey she is my world. She is a big girl now and she paws at the jingle bells on the front door when she needs to go out. That being said, she always peed on the floor anyway for the first few weeks. I more than once stepped in puddles in the dark. I throw blankets on my bed too because she goes back and forth in the night between crate and my bed. If you let her in your bed, then invest in more sheets. Good luck and it is the most exciting time to have a little baby in your life. They grow so quick!
That's a nice experience! Gonna make mine too! I gonna let him in my bed if he already know where to pee and potty.
You can buy it for Kindle on Amazon - if you don't have a Kindle, you can get the free Kindle app for phone, tablet or computer and read it on any of those. Best to keep posting on the forum, so everyone else can benefit from the advice, and you'll get more people responding!
Actually I'm planning to teach him first where to potty and pee, but we don't have backyard or a grassy places here so I'm planning to make our C.R as his spot. Is it okay? My other option is our gate (near the gate) but our garbage is on that place too.
Hi and welcome to the forum from me and my 11 month old boy Bailey. We had a crate for when Bailey was a tiny 8 week old pup which helped with sleeping at night and house training him. Puppies do not know where to go to the toilet, you have to teach them where is it OK to go and where not. When they are small and not fully vaccinated you need to be careful where they go to the toilet - we used our small back garden - mostly patio with a flower bed around it. Once he was vaccinated he started to learn to go when we were out on a walk. New puppies have tiny bladders and can't hold their wee for too long - at the beginning you will need to take him to where you want him to go to the toilet every 20 to 30 mins but certainly after each sleep (and they sleep a lot), after each playtime and after mealtimes too. So lots of back and forwards to your chosen toilet place. Good luck and can't wait for pictures
I have read that puppy wee a lot. That's what I'm planning, after they woke up, after playtime/training and after meals. I do really want a grassy area as his toilet, but we don't have that one here. I'm planning to make our C.R as his spot. Is it okay? He's already vaccinated but not full vaccinated that's what the breeder said to meee.
Welcome, this young pup is going to have a great life wth you. Remember those pics! Have you chosen his name yet? I don't know what you mean by C.R...what is it?
Hi, my puppy is 24 weeks now. We didnt use a crate the first few night as my husband thinks he knows best!!! it was a nightmare. Got her a crate, made it really cosy and never looked back, she still loves her crate and never minds spending time in there, I do put a blanket over at night again just to keep it cosy and draft free.
