After three days being stuck at home alone with Stampy and getting very antsy because of it, I decided to take a risk and leave Stampy by himself while I went to the gym. He had mad zoomies this morning so I took him for a run around to get rid of some of that energy but he still had a barking fit when I went inside for 2 minutes to back my bag! He did eventually lie down, but was still very alert. As a result, I felt pretty anxious when I left (perhaps more than I should've been).

I decided to record him on my laptop while I was gone. And lo and behold, he slept for almost the whole hour! He got up 4 minutes before I returned, barked twice within the next minute, then sat down until I arrived and greeted him. I'm feeling pretty lucky I got to greet him while he was so calm (and I didn't accidentally reward barking). Hopefully this means Stampy will continue to cope well with being alone for a few hours here and there!

Well done, Stampy! Did you leave him with a stuffed Kong, or did he go to sleep straight away?

I think it's good to get them used to being alone sometimes. Sounds like he was quite happy with being left

I'm so proud! I left him with a peanut butter covered kong, but he was pretty much asleep within a minute of me leaving the house. I wrapped some ice blocks in his blanket and put it on his bed, he's always been super comfortable on them since the first night we brought him home!

    First thought: "What the actual...?!?!"
    Second though: *looks at location*
Third thought: "Ah, that makes sense, now!"

    :D

Hahaha, yep, it's summer right now too! Then again, in Queensland, you could say it's summer 365 days a year :)

Haha - every evening I'm putting an 8 hour heat pad in Mollie's bed (one in mine too!)

    Good boy Stampy xx

At the beginning of winter, I bought an electric blanket for my bed. Best. Thing. Ever. Yes, I'm officially an old lady, but I don't care!

Well done Stampy and well done you too! I remember the anxiety and the worry that first time you leave the alone but now you have the evidence that Stampy is quite happy to sleep away the short time you are out for.

@snowbunny I am so jealous...an electric blanket lovely....my OH won't have them as he gets too hot...I go to bed wrapped up like an eskimo as I really feel the cold :( am looking forward to hot flushes :) :)

It has variable controls for each side! So he can keep his side cool and you can be toasted! It's brilliant! I got mine new, but in a damaged box, from eBay and it was only £35. It's pure luxury :D

I need this! My mum bought an electric blanket when I lived at home and I never got out of bed. But OH hates it and I've never had it on since we moved in. This could be the way..
