We bought the brand 'Flexi', tape lead (we were advised that the tape leads are stronger and less likely to snap than the cord ones) that is designed for dogs up to 50kgs. Ella is only 26kgs but we didn't want to take any chances :D

Yep, they are quite pricey. I think ours was about $80

Flexi is what I'm looking at too, and I see that they're German made - no wonder they're so pricey. Ah thanks for mentioning tape vs cord, I was wondering about that. I'll have a look at one this weekend.

Stanley had one, OH loved it but I wasn't a fan. If you didn't click it at the right point, if he ran and got to the end of the lead, either I'd be pulled forward with amazing force or he'd be pulled back. I've never used a long line though so it's probably the same with those.

Notice how I said Stanley "had" one.. little bugger turned round one day and clamped his teeth down on the tape and it snapped

He's on thick rope leads since then :D

I can't grip them at all so don't use them now but when Doug was small I tried one but didn't like them.

Yep, I'd say that this is the real danger with them. We only got Ella's for Christmas so she's a little older (she'll be two in April) and occasionally a little more sensible :D. I still always opt for the normal lead if I'm in doubt and always carry both leads with me.

WELL, Odie told me off last night. OH and I were watching some TV. Odie and Axel were playing. Odie then trots off to his water dish. Then I hear him let it a very frustrated 'grr' so I look over at him. Standing in front of his water dish, staring at me with the upmost disgust. How dare I have not noticed he was out of water. Won't make that mistake again :rolleyes:

I had a bad day, a painful day everything's been hard even maintaining my I
Usually happy mood. I did everything i intended too walked the dogs around the house and went out with oh. On Moos last slow careful walk a lab which always greets me whether I want it too or not jumped on me and repeatedly jumped up I kept turning away it hurt so much but I held onto myself and just kept turning away. The owner was hopeless. My ignoring worked and she stopped. I made no eye contact with the owner and couldn't speak it hurt so much. One of dog walkers with him was someone I know he'd seen what had happened he gave me a wink and asked if I was ok really loudly. :) He made me smile. I made it home did the doggies tea and had to go and have a lie down I just needed to lie still and flat . it was a crap day tomorrow will be better and if I'm feeling up to it I might have a word someone on a good way to stop their lab jumping up;)

I'm puppy sitting tonight for 12 week old, Basil. OH's mates border terrier pup.

At first I was full of confidence like yeah this'll be no bother, but as it draws nearer I'm thinking I may be remembering puppyhood through rose tinted spec.

Ah well.. it's only for one night and he's very cute :D

And if it goes well, you'll be looking for a little brother for Stanley! :D

Uh-oh, early start in the morning, driving to Surrey then halfway through France and the rest of the way to Andorra on Sunday. All three dogs now have dodgy tummies. This could be fun.

Met a lady on the beach this morning. She looked vaguely familiar, but I've mets lots of people on the different beaches since I've been here. After chatting for a while, she mentioned she ran a little hotel locally. It suddenly clicked:
"Oh, you're the lady from Woodlands!"
    "Yes, that's right..."
"I came for breakfast one morning, when my friend, Kate (@Beanwood), was staying there."
    *blank look*
"Kate... with Benson, the sausage stealer!"
    "Oh, BENSON! Yes!!!"

Have a safe trip. Rural France in winter is pretty bleak so you won't even have some nice scenery to distract you. You'll be so glad to get home!
