That's great news! I'm sure Molly will be happy with being fed 5 times a day, even if it is a bit less food than for her normal meal!

Thanks everyone. We're totally shattered after all the emotions we went through today, but looking forward to spoiling our lovely girl for a while longer.

Oh Molly! I'm so happy for you. May you have a bit more time with dear Molly.
We went through kidney failure with Belle..awful. She is free now & I'm glad I could release her from her pain and trouble.

So happy to read your news. I read the whole thread at once and was so relieved at the happy ending.

Regarding feeding smaller frequent meals - we did the same for our boy cos of blood sugar levels but he became ravenous because no meal properly satisfied him and he put on weight cos we gave into the begging. If this happens with Molly you might want to add low-carb veg to her two main meals to help her feel full - like raw or cooked broccoli etc.

Molly is sleeping peacefully and we are just so happy that she has been given more time. I just wanted to say how much my wife and I appreciate how wonderful and thoughtful everyone is on this site.

We were at our wits end this morning and just didn't know what to do. There wasn't a single snide or nasty comment and it really helped us deal with what we thought was going to be an awful day but turned out a lot better than we could have hoped for.

Thanks again to all of you.

I was thinking of Molly's difficulty onto and off the couch. Could you make her a step so that it's not so far to climb up? Perhaps just a large sturdy block covered in carpet (non slip).

Good to hear - does she have to sleep on the couch? Our old dog could get up stairs but there is no way she could have got onto anything higher than a step or her bed in the last couple of years (and in fact would struggle with her back legs if she somehow got herself on the tiles/hardwood floor instead of carpet or carpet runners that were put everywhere for her (yes she would somehow end up on the gaps). I came home from the races one day to find she'd got herself stuck and couldnt get up as she had ended up on the only corner of hardwood floor and then panicked (even her last day she old dog bounced the 1200m round trip but other days she struggled to a quarter of that). BUt she was usually keen for her food, was drinking and could take herself outside and otherwise happy in her own world.

as she was 17 I always had it in the back of my mind if she wasnt eating/drinking & couldnt toilet herself so the basics since aside from the short walks she'd basically sleep then that would be the turning point. As it was she broke her back leg in the end and couldnt stand up then x rays showed her kidneys were causing weak bones and she had a massive tumour on her spleen (which more than the arthritis probably caused the days that she couldnt walk far)
