I stayed here for a long weekend break with Benson a couple of weeks ago, meant to post about this lovely B&B tucked away in Padstow but forgot! The B&B is run by a smashing couple called Hugo and Pippa. So helpful, a really lovely couple who just couldn't do enough to help. The B&B is very dog friendly with a large enclosed lawned dog area complete with dog poo bin. Lots of fabulous walks on your doorstep, indeed they even have a brochure detailing the best dog walks, beaches etc.... The rooms are spotless and so comfy! Breakfast is to die for! I will draw your attention to one of their rules... "Dogs are allowed in all the reception rooms with their owners. They should not run freely in the house. Please try to keep the Labradors out of the kitchen!" I would be everso grateful if you do visit...do not mention that you know Benson the chocolate labrador! http://www.woodlands-padstow.co.uk/
Nice - I shall squirrel it away for when I get down that far - would really really love to go back to Cornwall and revisit old haunts.
That sounds lovely. We've been looking for doggy holiday ideas so your timing is perfect . Many years ago we started to walk the coast path from Minehead. Our last walk was Bude to Padstow, so this would be a great base for the next leg.
You would love it! The rooms are gorgeous, and Hugo is so interesting to talk too, he used to have a black lab called Mungo, you see his photos on the wall in the office. They also have beautiful large rooms to relax and read books in the afternoon

It's a lovely place, and I can vouch for breakfast - yummers! Kate, I don't know if you saw this on the other "random dog thoughts" thread.... from the day before I left, if memory serves. Met a lady on the beach this morning. She looked vaguely familiar, but I've mets lots of people on the different beaches since I've been here. After chatting for a while, she mentioned she ran a little hotel locally. It suddenly clicked: "Oh, you're the lady from Woodlands!" "Yes, that's right..." "I came for breakfast one morning, when my friend, Kate (@Beanwood), was staying there." *blank look* "Kate... with Benson, the sausage stealer!" "Oh, BENSON! Yes!!!" Infamy, Benson!
We're enjoying our stay at the Woodlands. it's as good as Kate says! Our room is a lovely size, plenty of room for Hollys bed and our walking gear. One nice thing is the attention to small details. There's somewhere to put your muddy walking shoes when you arrive, games and CDs that you can borrow for your room, and a poop tool in the exercise area. The Cornish Arms is about three miles away and is very dog friendly. Last night is it was quite full - only one table didn't have a dog under it! It's owned by Rick Stein so the food is very good.
