Over the last few years I've written about the challenges Mabel has faced since she has been diagnosed with ED. It's been a very long and painful journey as many of you will know. In fact I've just re read all the info on both the dam and sire to see what if anything I missed. There isn't anything, it really is one of those very unfortunate things so it's now laid to rest. Mabel had one of her regular check ups on Monday and the specialist is so pleased with her, she is walking better than he has ever seen her walk. There is no swelling around the plate and she is in tip top condition, and a perfect weight for her. So he has signed her off, no more check ups. I have an action plan for any future limping no doubt there will be days when she over does it. Apparently I've done a splendid job. I can take her back at anytime if I'm worried which is comforting. I am so thrilled I was speechless in fact I didn't say much until Tuesday as I never thought this day would come. We have had some beautiful walks this week going to places I never dreamt she could walk to, and spring is just round the corner.
Really, really thrilled for you! It has been a long journey for you both, but what an inspirational story for anyone else facing the same challenge.
So glad for you and Mabel! Hopefully you will both just have nice things to look forward to in future! Xx
YIPPEEEE!!!! What a wonderful post to read, I am SO pleased for you!! I wish you could go back and tell yourself in your darkest hours that this was coming. Amazing job, Claire
That is such good news. Worth the anxiety, isn't it, to be in the clear now? Even with going through all that, you are lucky. Oban has horrible ED, from an accident, it wasn't operable.
Such fantastic news I look forward to hearing all about your new adventures over the coming months. You both deserve it x
What wonderful news for you and Mabel! And really inspiring for people who may be facing ED. When my dog was diagnosed with ED 14 years ago, the only possible surgery was still pretty experimental and my orthopaedic surgeon recommended against it for that reason - and he was very advanced as one of the first to start doing TPLOs in our area. It worked out fine for my dog Brogan, but I always worried what our options would be if he finally did need treatment. So thanks to you and Mabel for showing it can be done.
