Welcome to our Senior Labs Forum!

This is the place to post all about your older Labradors.

With thanks to Kate (Beanwood) for the super suggestion.

Of course - or any other breed for that matter!

I'd say 'old' differs from breed to breed, due to varying life expectancies. For Labs it's about 8 years, but I don't think we need a hard and fast rule ;)

My first instinct was to say any Lab that is out of the ridiculous stage of youth and is a bit more sensible. But then I thought about Moo and realised that was just daft :D

What a great idea, mine is nearly 11 years old, is that old enough he says?

Fab idea! I love old dogs. Here are my two old boys when they were (I think) around 13 and 11 respectively.

I think I may have been holding a biscuit... :D

What a great photo Karen. I think that's a new one you haven't shared before.
In my eyes that makes the board a success already x

The idea came really from when I was booking Casper into the vets for his check-up...they noted he was 8 and commented "Oh he is a senior now" It occurred to me that yes, whilst he is certainly is King of the Hoolies, he aint getting any younger! :)

So this is a quiet area, for us to sit and muse about our creaky old labs, resting serenely at our feet, warming themselves by the fire and dreaming of days gone by.

    Casper...:)

The photos of the 'oldies' are so lovely, there is something very special about an older dog.

Well Hattie you'd better drag your bed really close to the fire at almost 10 years old! :D NEVER, she has far more energy than all the 'youngsters' round here and she still works:chuckle: xx

Big Old Scooby - I don't know how old he was - we were told "around 10" but he didn't have the distinguished grey muzzle. He was such a gent. I'd love another Lab, he was a great ambassador for the breed, Small P1040501.jpg
