Ella's ears are lopsided this morning. She's holding her right one (left side of the photo) lower. I've had a good feel around and it's not warm or smelly and she's not pulling away but it just looks a bit weird. Has anyone else seen this?
I'd say that, as you suspect, it means that it's a bit uncomfortable for some reason. It might go away.... If she's not scratching at it and you haven't seen anything I'd probably just keep an eye on it for today. If it persists I'd go to the vet. I hesitate to use the term 'ear mites' but they are hard to spot without a special vet ear torchy thing...
No scratching or head shaking yet but I'm working from home today so will watch her every move Thanks for saying mites though... Now I'm itchy all over!!
That's her normal "yep, I'll do what you asked but I'm struggling to see a treat in your hand..." face
Vanilla get these, normally about 2-4days prior to a yeast or ear infection. She has had so far and after the second one I now manage to pick it (plus she goes off her food at the same time). But each dog is different so might have nothing to do with that and she just slept funny. Same as us humans who then wake up with either hair all over the place or really red marks down one side of the face....OK maybe that is just me...but I don't think so...
Snowie gets this every now then. Usually accompanied by head shaking or scratching his ear. For him it means his ears need a good clean. After I clean them using cotton wool and a mild ear cleaner I got at the vet, they go back to normal.
Well her ear is back to normal. Whatever it was seems to have cleared. Not that I won't keep a close eye on her of course
Thought of the comment above of a squashed face last night. Snowie gets his favourite treat, butter, every night to take him up to bed. He's normally deep asleep when we want to go up, but if we leave him, he tends to wake up later and then dig in the sofa before coming up (so annoying!!!). So the quickest and easiest way is to say, Snowie, sleepy time, do you want butter? And he's up in a shot, I'm certain still fast asleep even though he's on his feet. Last night his face was so squashed on one side from lying on it, it was adorably hilarious. So maybe dogs do get bad "ear" days from lying funny.
