Hi all - looking for some help please. I came home from working away for 5 days to find either a skin tag or a tick under Jet's right eye. OH said he didn't notice it. How did he not?!? Jet has had a skin tag before on his face but would one appear so quickly? If it's a tick what's the best course of action? Thanks.
Probably a tick. If you get right down to the skin it might be easier to be sure. Do you have a tick-removing tool - like the O'Tom tick twister? That is the easiest thing to use Check out this page about ticks and how to remove them http://www.thelabradorsite.com/ticks-on-dogs/
Ew, had to take one off Squidge yesterday. Used my tick tool then burnt it with a gas lighter. Later on, I saw one scurrying across Willow's head, so I knocked it off and smashed it with a rock. I am so squeamish about them! Ick! Ick! Ick!
Omg,omg,I hate them ....thankfully we don't see a lot ...although guess what we have ? Yes you are right, camel ticks! X
I've never see one before in the UK ,but my friend was with me when we saw one on Dexter .I thought it was one of those Nigella seeds you get on bread here ,it was about that size so I reckon more of less the same ? Horrible critters they are ,shudder
I really hope Stanley never gets one of those I'd have to take him to the vets, I couldn't cope with it
We rushed Homer up to the emergency vet one Sunday afternoon when I found his first tick! Fortunately the vet was quiet and quite happy to help neurotic new puppy owners. Didn't even charge us! He picked up loads on holiday in France. Fortunately in France there is a vet on the outskirts of EVERY town/village and with very basic French I got the message across "mon chien, boucoupe des ticks" pointing ferociously at poor H's sides. luckily French word for tick is 'tique' . The vet replied in perfect English giving us a treatment very similar to Advocate.
I couldn't face looking at it any longer so got it off him this morning on our walk. So gross. Poor Jet didn't even flinch, then again he isn't the most switched on dog.... disgusting critters.
