I never imagined owning a dog to include holding a cold cloth on his penis and chasing him around the garden to get a wee sample in a Tupperware box. I just don't know when my life became to glam
Lovely loose lead walking this morning then WHAM! Lead goes tight, really tight - I'm not used to this nowadays, unless t's a cat or a dog. Coco had spotted a big bale of hay on the opposite pavement, an obstacle left over for last night's Manx National Rally. Hackles up. We approached very slowly, stop/start. Gave it a good sniff then he ate a piece of beef from the top of it. We decided it wasn't a threat & left it alone. I hope it's still there next week, I want to see if he reacts again. I'm sure it must've been there yesterday morning but he didn't react then. Could be that it had hay spilling out of a tear in the plastic wrap today, or maybe it wasn't there.
Inspired by @Rosie we did some heal work on our walk today. It would have gone better if Holly had joined in.
@Hollysdad I just KNEW Fiona would be getting her red pen out at that, but we I couldn't even wind her up on the Mod board for it
Stanley is the softest dog I've ever met. All he ever wants is to be every living creatures best friend. He'd be an appalling guard dog! But when OH is on nights he really does make me feel safe. If he hears any noise at the door or anyone knocks or comes in he really really barks. It's odd really because he doesn't do it as much when OH is here. But he has a big boy bark so you can tell it's coming from a decent size dog. He's my little protector although I do think if anyone ever got in he'd be straight on his back for a belly rub
Watching Eight Below as nothing else on TV and Vanilla is facinated by the dogs. Adverts come on and no interest in TV, movie back on quiet as a mouse and glued to the screen.
There are children's channels on TV. Why can't there be a doggy channel so we can park our pups in front of it while we get on with our work? (OK, OK, I know that this is not good parenting...)
Oh boy...it finally happened...my dog suddenly lunged at something down a steep hill and pulled me down with him. I didn't let go of the lead in time and fell after him, rolling my ankle badly. I felt horrible crunching, and the coup d'etat...landed in a pile of nettles. Thankfully for my foolish pride, no one witnessed this. Unfortunately we were in a busy dog walking area so I'd never normally let him off lead for fear he'd be a nuisance to people and I wouldn't be able to recall him, but I couldn't have him on lead and potentially pull me off my feet so I just had a yolo moment and let him off. I hobbled along and not 5 minutes later a couple with a dog off lead showed up, but my dog was a star Calmly greeted the dog and when I asked him to come with me, he did so immediately. So this in a way was good in that it forced me to test how my lab would behave in this sort of situation where as previously I would be too worried to. But bad because now I can't walk for a couple of days, and for the next 8 weeks (!!!) can only do mild exercise My OH will be walking him for me until I can take him again. I'm really going to miss our walks though
Oh no! I live in fear of that! Be positive: Beau did really well (apart from pulling you down) and at least you're not on crate rest for those 8 weeks!
Today I cut Nells hair , and before you keel over with an attack of the vapours , I did actually learn how to trim dogs, many moons ago after I qualified as a nurse but later decided I preferred dogs to most people ! Sam slunk off , having observed the procedure on the kitchen draining board , thank goodness Labs don't require titivating !
