Hi friends: We are a couple of 3 month old sisters, our names are Xalli and Niva. We both (along with our 4 other sisters and 1 brother) were born in a ranch, about one hour away from our current home in Mexico City's outskirts. Our parents are two great Labs, a golden one, "Milu" our father and a black mother "Tami" We were both adotped, one week ago and currently live with our family: the two of us and Felipe and Monique. Today, we got our first set of vaccines, and were told by our vet to not go out and do not meet with other dogs until we get our full set of vaccinations, that should be over in about 2 months or so. In the meantime, we play and try to train in our house's garden So, here we are, with Felipe and Monique, trying to learn all we can about how to behave, how to traing to be good dogs and good owners...hopefully with all your help. By the way, our names "Xalli", stands for SAND in Nahuatl (ancient language of the Aztec people) as I am kind of sand color, golden.... and "Niva" which comes from Nieve...(snow)..as I am pretty much white-golden..much more white than my sister Xalli. So, nice meeting you all and hope to read more and write about us very soon... Cheers and Wooofs !! from Mexico City. Xalli, Niva, Felipe and Monique.
Welcome, Xalli and Niva! I'm Wispa, a reddish yellow lab and I'm five. I live with Tuppence, who is three and a black lab. We live in south-east England. Enjoy your new family and tell us about your life in New Mexico!
Welcome to the forum from me and my three; Shadow (yellow boy), Willow (black girl), and Luna (chocolate girl). Luna is 6 months and Willow and Shadow are litter mates at 2.5 years. Litter mates are a lot of extra work, do good luck! Make sure you spend a lot of time each day with them apart from one another and one-on-one with you. It's very important they learn independence from one another, as there will be times that they need to be apart (if no other time, at the end of life) and you need to give them the tools to cope with that. The time apart with you will also give them the opportunity to bond more with their humans; litter mates often bond very closely together and not so much with their owners as single dogs. When your vet says not to go out, it's important that puppies don't go on the floor until their vaccinations are complete, especially if there is high risk of things like parvovirus in your area, but it is equally important that they do get to go out and experience lots of different sights and sounds at this age, and to meet friendly, vaccinated dogs in safe areas. You simply need to carry the pups while doing this. If you skip the socialisation (which is seeing cars, trucks, emergency service vehicles with sirens on, people of all colours, shapes and sizes, bikes, motorbikes, joggers, sheep, horses, people in hats, etc etc etc) then you risk your puppies growing up as excessively fearful dogs.
Welcome to you from Mags, Tatze and Mollie from Manchester UK Tatze is my pet dog, a black Lab and she's four years old. Tatze means 'paw' in German. Mollie is my fourth Guide Dog puppy, a black Lab who is seven months old. .
Hi and welcome from me (Ternaya) and my 3 year old fox red girl, Harley from the UK. I love the names of your two girls
Welcome from me, Hattie 9 years and rescue boy Charlie 6 years. We live in the UK. Good luck with your pups x
A big welcome to Xalli, Niva, & Felipe and Monique. I love the origins of your names - fabulous. I live on the Isle of Man with Coco, a German Shepherd x Labrador.
Welcome Xalli, Niva and your humans! I love D.F and Mexico and am happy you got such great Nahuatl names. I hope you'll share some stories of what it's like to be a dog in such a big city, especially after you've had all your vaccines and can go out in the city and explore. I think you may be the only forum members living in Mexico, so it would be really interesting to learn from you about a dog's life there!
Hello and welcome! Lilly is a 7 year old black girl and we live in Scotland. We would love, as Emily says, to hear more about you and your adventures! jac
Hi Wispa, thanks for your message. We love having new friends from south-east England. Hey, but we live in Mexico City, Mexico (the country), not in the USA state of New Mexico... Receive our greetings from Mexico City. Niva & Xalli
Hi Lilly... thanks for your note. For sure we'll be posting our adventures regularly...Actually our human mom & dad made an Instagram page called "@niva.xalli" (no quotes) and started posting pictures of our daily antics. Wooofs from Mexico City. Niva & Xalli
Hi Snowbunny, Shadow, Willow and Luna... Thanks for your note... you are giving us great hints on how to start and continue our new lifes together as a family of four (2 humans, 2 labs). It's totally reasonable that each of the "girls" need to learn Independence of the other...actually we decided on adopting two litter mates instead of only one as we thought it'd be nicer and easier for all if the two had the company of the other and what better company than a sister ! ... But yes, we have to support a good balance of Independence and joint living ... Anyway for about 6 weeks or so, we're not going out (to parks, streey walk or so...) after Vet's orders due the vaccines process.. but, we make sure there are plenty of activities and learn new things at home both inside and out in the garden and patios. Looking forward to keep you posted on our adventures and to read about yours. Kind regards from Mexico City.. Niva, Xalli, Felipe and Monique
Hi and welcome! I am following your Instagram page and your human parents are very clever to have adopted such incredibly beautiful little beings like you
