Proud owner alert. Once again Holly halted on a finger snap. Its a system I use to get her attention when there's wildlife about. Today we came across a wildlife photographer who was lining up a shot. I snapped my finger and she turned and looked at me for the next command. I showed her my palm (the wait command) and she just stood and waited. When he finished his picture I released her by pointing to my feet and she trotted back to me. The guy was very impressed. Afterwards I had a really interesting chat and I learned quite a bit about the bird life on Crabtree Hill. I might go back with Holly and a camera tomorrow.
I'm thinking about entering this but I'm scared I'll turn into the crazy mam that boots right off if my baby doesn't win I feel as though he's got most handsome dog in the bag.. I'll concede best handler though
Ah, I was going to enter monty in a local show just like this a few weeks ago. Fortunately I woke up on the Sunday morning with a stonking hangover and didn't get out of bed till midday. I, too would have apoplectic if monty didnt come away with multiple rosettes so probably for the best.
Its great fun have a go when the black dog gang (our 4 black dogs all labs and lab crosses)was all young and healthy we used to go to a few local shows. We always had a good time Doug's last fun show was when he wad 13. He won the golden oldy class, looking back its a great memory. My friends and his physio talked me into entering. he just had a good time I've got a great photo of me laughing and him smiling.
Definitely do it!!!! Luna had an absolute blast at our show - she absolutely adored strutting her stuff
Sing it with me: red and yellow and pink and green, purple and orange and blue...I can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow too... I fell over onto concrete chasing my boy around the backyard - he'd snagged a shampoo bottle. I don't know how bad the bruising on my knees is going to be....but it's definitely going to be colourful
Well you know when you are walking in the dark and ask your dog to watch their step. I think one should apply that to oneself too. I don't know how she did ot, but she tangled her 3m lead round my feet while I was saying to her you are going to get tangled. Took my next step and fell into the sandbank (we go walking at the local golf course early mornings). Vanilla thought it was funny stood at the top and looked with an inquisitive face slanted to one side the jumped in and thought it was play time.
Well we had a rubbish walk today. It was too hot. Rory ate something weird in a ditch. He also lost his mind when he smelled a ball and disappeared into a thicket with it. We got home both tired washed him down fingers crossed about what he ate. Very stressed about it
Rubbish walk here too. Trying to keep monty calm on lead when he hasn't had a walk in three days, stopping him from eating all sorts of stuff when hes starving. But hes on the mend so all will be ok i guess
Rory has colitis eating stuff can have horrible results. Last time he lost a lot of weight it took a long time to get him better. It must gave been tasty because he's usually very good. Glad Montys on the mend at least he had the energy to jump about i think i was in a badmood so it didnt help
So tired today and I know it's going to be hot I think it's going to be a day of short walks and playing in the garden if I don't fall asleep in the rose bushes.
That sounds a great show, lots of really good categories for labradors , how many are you entering? Definitely turn into a crazy dog mum if Stanley doesn't win at least two .
Is there any fine art to moving from 3 meals a day to 2 meals per day? help! dont want to start a full new thread just one or two tips!?
I reckon we might do alright in handsomest dog, best biscuit catcher and waggiest tail. He does know some good tricks but I need him to roll over and play dead I think. And if he's as adorable as he can be I think he could get dog that judge wants to take home. I really think I will. I'll demand a recount pointing at all the other dogs like NOT ONE OF THEM IS A PATCH ON MINE!
My dog would get worst biscuit catcher...he's seriously dreadful, but hilarious to watch. He tries to catch it too early, so it's a very enthusiastic snarf gobble at the air as the biscuit bonks off of his nose
