Yesterday evening my son Thomas came running down the stairs to tell me he heard glass smashing, I was at the other end of the house so didn't hear a thing, no dogs barking either. We searched and finally found a broken pane in the french windows in the front sitting room. It had been broken from the inside. Charlie was running around looking very anxious head, ears and tail down I called him and he did have glass dust on him, I checked him thoroughly but no blood, cuts, nothing. I think he saw a cat or pheasant in the garden and jumped up on the french doors and as the glass is antique 2/3mm thick it wouldn't take much for Charlie at 32kg to break it. He has been very subdued since. I hope he is OK I am absolutely amazed his legs didn't go through it and get cut to ribbons. I don't know about cats having nine lives …. xx
Oh heck Helen, your boy certainly knows how to worry you ! It could have been so much worse , thank goodness all is alright x
Poor Charlie, must have given him a nasty shock; thank heaven he wasn't hurt. Maybe he has a headache though poor lad.
Hope you have recovered from the shock @charlie. Charlie certainly seems to have the knack of getting into trouble hopefully he was just a little subdued because of the noise and shock of the glass breaking. Thank goodness he was unhurt. Hugs to you and gentle strokes to Charlie
Well Charlie ate his dinner so I think he is over the shock, until the next time Thank you everyone xxx
There but for the grace of Dog and all that. Phew, lucky Charlie. That boy likes to keep you on your toes!
In the US, most low windows have to be tempered glass, as do patio doors. It is a lot stronger and difficult to break, but if it is broken it breaks into tiny pieces, not shards.
