Hi I am pretty new to this forum so apologies if this has been discussed before. Beau is now 11 weeks old, I was looking for some advice on treats. What treats would you advise and what quantity daily? I've heard Kong's are good, what is good to fill them with? (Without him making to much of a mess!) Has anyone purchased the squirty foam you can put in Kongs? Thank you

Hi and welcome. Kongs are great for pups and dogs. Might be worth starting off by putting in a few pieces of kibble and let them realise that they need to get them out. You can then go onto soaking the kibble in water and filling it with that. Once Beau has the hang of it, you can fill them and freeze. You can use soaked kibble if you want (make sure you take it out of Beau's daily food allowance). My girl loves natural yoghurt mixed with a tin of tuna (brine included) and I freeze these. I personally wouldn't use the squirty Kong filling as the ingredients aren't very healthy and my girl has a bit of a sensitive tummy.
As for treats, this depends on what you are looking for. I use dried fish skins for chews, sausage, cheese or chicken for training and tiny natural biscuits to go in her treat ball. Amount depends on Beau's size. Also, make sure you reduce Beau's meals to compensate for the treats.
    Hope this helps a bit!

We have been putting his kibble in the Kong and he gets it in his crate or in his gated area before I leave for work. I was putting treats in there also but it seems we also have a bit of a sensitive tummy issue. On that note...anyone know of any treats for lab pups that don't cause diarrhea?

We've been using Puppy Gravy Bones so far and he hasn't had diarrhea with those. His also had a tiny bit of cheese and also ok with that. I suppose it's all trial and error isn't it. The kongs sound really good, I've just been researching them. How old is your pup?
