Hi all, Lincoln is coming to the end of his second day with us. On his first day he did very little save for sleep for the majority of the day, we crated him at night and he cried through the night (expected, not pleasant but we're still here). Today he went to the Vet for his jab bright and early and again has done very little save for sleep, we had a visitor and he played with her for about 5 minutes and promptly fell asleep. I just want to know if this is normal, he seems far too laid back for an 8 week old puppy.
I have no answers but wanted to say that our boys must be very close to the same age, Watson came home on Saturday and was born April 14th. Do you happen to know Lincoln's birthday? He is sure cute, I am going to have to figure out how to make my picture like that!
This is not at all unusual. Mollie was really sleepy at first. This is what I said about Mollie - Haha! She turned out to be the liveliest, bitiest, craziest pup ever! (She's eight months lols now and still loopy!)
Lincoln was born on the 17th, so 3 days younger than Watson. I'm not ready for him to grow up, trying to savour these puppy moments. Would love to see some pics of Watson, trying to figure out how to upload more pictures on here.
Think you are lulled My puppy was a sleepy angel for the first few days and of course they do need a lot of sleep to begin with. However, if he does seem lethargic and off his food then a call the vet is advised.
We have had a hard time with getting pictures on this site, when my husband gets home tonight I will try again it will be fun seeing two so close in age grow!
I was thinking along the lines of: if he was up all night crying, perhaps he was too tired to be awake during the day?
Lincoln is only 8 weeks old so he will need to go outside to toilet more than once a night, maybe that's why he cried all night. Puppy owners set their clocks to take their pups out regularly through the night until they are toilet trained. The secret also is not to interact with him, take him out of his crate only when he is quiet, take him outside for a wee and pop him back in his crate. No playing, talking nothing. If you talk to him he things yay it's playtime! Try this and see if it makes a difference. Also some owners have very young puppies sleep next to their beds or they sleep in the same room as their crated puppy as they have just left their Mum and litter mates so it's very different for him. I know it will be tiring but there's no shortcuts. x
