That's strange, because the show GRs I've seen have been really quite short compared to my mental image of what a GR is. Generally very pale, yes. Which I think is a shame, because it's not really "golden" at all, is it? Although, there was one that was distinctly yellow. Not in a pleasant way. He looked like he'd glow in the dark. If he was a human, you'd say he had a thyroid problem!

These yesterday seemed universally massive (big boned, tall) with the exception of a few smaller females. Could be just a regional thing - they all did kind of seem related with that super white coat color. They were indeed gorgeous, just would have liked to seen some more Labs.

Which show was it? I'd be interested to look up the results :)

It was the DRC (Deutscher Retriever Club) show in Heroldsbach (BY) yesterday. If you look at the results and notice that in fact there were 30 Labs showing and I just missed seeing them somehow, please don't tell me! I already feel goofy enough!

Odie Bear had a bath yesterday, Axel couldn't stop sniffing him. Almost like he was saying 'What have they done to you:eek:' it makes me so sad that the back of Odie looks nothing like the front of him. He keeps losing more and more hair and I fear he will be hairless sooner than later. But we will love him just the same of course.

And just a couple pictures of Axel from today.

Mom, make sure you get my good side, ok?

Enjoy your honeymoon @JenBainbridge! I'm sure you'll get to Italy and forget all about Stanley once you start eating all the food :D Nom nom, have fun!

@Kelsey&Axel, is Odie's skin problem a Pom problem, or is it just one of those things? He's still as cute as a button, and if he loses too much fur then you have the perfect excuse to buy him cute little sweaters (glass half full?).

One if the most tough to live with things in my life ended yesterday. Finally after 5 years we have been able to lay my father to rest properly . The manslaughter case closed with a not guilty verdict but the company received a huge fine. We knew it would be difficult to convict but I know my father would gave loved the 1 million pound fine. So I feel able at last to smile through the tears when I think about him sitting with the dogs in the garden. We managed to get some justice he would have liked that.

I'm not aware of the backstory with your dad, Swampy, but I'm glad that you're happy with the result. Companies are able to get away with so much - usually the worst they get is the metaphorical slap with a wet bus ticket. It's good that you're now able to put that chapter of your life behind you - 5 years is a long time to wait.

Yes the 5 years were terrible Its time to stop being angry now and just remember him laughing at Doug and Moo. I think he would have proud of us for kicking them where it hurts in the bank account;)

What do you think it means when you ring the vet to book for annual boosters and the receptionist says 'Ripple - oh dear' :D ?

Aww bless! So know that feeling....my parents stayed with our dogs part of our (expensive) holiday last year. After I kept sneaking looks on our cctv hubby has vowed to buy a clapped out caravan instead so we can take our dogs on holiday :)

I'm so excited! We spend hours every week trying to search for places to go for a walk where dogs are allowed. It's so frustrating.

Then, then we found a huge state forest about 45mins away where we can not only walk Ella but off-lead too!!! However, the walks are more like hikes and are described as steep, challenging terrain for experienced hikers.

New years resolution (1 July is our new financial year)... We're all going to build up our fitness and have set a target to work our way through all of the different hikes! Yay!
