Sorry but another poo thread :(

I wormed Hattie & Charlie last night with Drontal Plus which I haven't used before, I usually use the individual Drontal tablets so I don't think that should matter.

This morning Charlie had runny poo which hasn't stopped all day. He had a very large vomiting episode this afternoon, also some bile. I gave him steamed chicken and rice for tea which presented itself 15 minutes later as watery poo. He has basically been in and out all day long with runny poo. He is drinking and seems fine in himself.

Hattie is fine so could it be the Drontal? Never had any issues before and I have always used it.

I will sleep on the sofa with him tonight so that he has quick outside access.

    Poor boy :(:( xx

It is quite possible that the Drontal plus didn't agree with Charlie. My Alice has had a couple of really bad reactions to Drontal so I don't use it anymore, nor any other wormer with the same ingredients. I use Milbemax instead.

He is normally fine with Drontal the only difference was I gave the plus which is one tablet rather than three. Thanks Heidrun x

Drontal has always upset my dogs, so now I use Milbemax and never have a problem. How Charlie is feeling better, poor boy. Of course it may be a bug and not the wormer.

Poor Charlie, I hope he's back to normal soon. No fun for anyone when this happens.

Feeling glad now that I use Milbemax... Obi has always been fine on this.

Vanilla can't have Drontal, sends her nuts...so we use Milbemax.
Maybe they have changed the mix?

Oh poor boy. I hope he's feeling better niw @charlie . I would certainly lean towards the cause being the Drontal Plus if that's the only thing different in what he's eaten etc. I use Milbemax and have never had a problem after dosing.
    Is Hattie ok?

Morning, Charlie had a good night and no trips outside but this morning he had a runny poo, nothing since. I gave him a small portion of boiled rice for breakfast and I will give him a little more for lunch. Giving him 3 small meals today to see if that helps his settle tummy.

As we have never had any side effects with Drontal I wonder if he had a bug.

    Hattie is absolutely fine.

Thank you for asking everyone. xxx

Glad the lovely boy is doing better this morning!

Merlin had Drontal Plus yesterday, AND Metacam as he seems to have hurt his tail. I was sure he would have tummy troubles and was prepared to get up in the night, but he seems to be another one with a cast-iron stomach...

Thanks Karen. I know Hattie has a cast-iron stomach but Charlie is a delicate little butterfly :) I gave him some rice at lunchtime, touch wood, he has kept it down so maybe I will put a handfull of kibble in his chicken/rice dinner.

Glad Merlin kept the Drontal Plus down but sorry about his sore tail, hope he feels better soon :( xx

Yes, I'm very worried about his tail. Either he has hurt it playing, or bashed it against the furniture or a door or something (he wags his whole body so enthusiastically, this is probably what has happened). His tail is a little swollen part of the way along, and he holds it slightly oddly, but it doesn't seem to be bothering him at all, unless you prod the swollen bit which he isn't keen on. So it's anti-inflammatories for a week, and then if things don't get better we'll have to do an x-ray.

@charlie Good to hear that Charlie has managed a small lunch. It's always reassuring when they finally keep a little food down. I keep a couple of tins of Chappie in the cupboard for occasions like this - so much easier than fiddling with rice and chicken :) - you know me, I prefer the easy option :).

Charlue could have a bug but I would still tend to lean towards the Drontal Plus - I'm not a great believer in coincidence. Might be worth using the ordinary Drontal next time though to be on the safe side xx
