No, I dont do this. I have read a lot about causing separation anxiety so never make a big deal of leaving or entering the room.

I can manage everything apart from the biting. I just read elsewhere on here that it gets worse in weeks 11 to 12. Holly is 9 weeks and one day at the moment.

My dog cried everytime he could see me too - sympathies! It's really enough to drive you bonkers.

    We did click for quiet:

It really did work after doing it for a while. And the biting just stops - we just withdrew from him when he did it but it took until he was about 5/6 months and had his big teeth before it fully stopped.

But now I have a 15 month ball of heaven who is my best friend EVER! It really does get better :)

All of our dogs started out in a crate in the bedroom at night. Mostly they still sleep in the bedroom with us, but they do fine if they can't for some reason.

Hi stop beating yourself up...you sound as if you prepared as much as you could, but you are right, every pup is different. We had Bailey in our room in a crate from the first night home, and we were very lucky, he slept soundly all night right from then. I kept waking up expecting him to need to go outside, but nope, he slept soundly. When we were sure he was dry at night we took him out of the crate and he has a bed by the side of our bed (from about 5 months old I think) which he slept in. Now he alternates between the floor, under our bed, the hallway (stairs are closed off with a baby gate) and our bed (working his way from bottom to by morning, having his head on my pillows! That is our choice and we would not have it any other way. It is all a matter of personal choice, our pups all adjust to us and our living spaces. At 9 weeks old your pup will want to be with you so she feels safe - she will gain in confidence and then you can slowly build up to being on her own. Even now at 16 months old (17 months in 5 days ) if we are in the house Bailey likes to be with us - he runs himself ragged if we are in different rooms! But when we go out and he can't come with us, we put him in our bedroom with toys, treats and water and he settles down for a lovely snooze on our bed! We also leave a radio on. He is fine for about 5 hours like this, but try leaving him in a room on his own when we are in the house....nope that's a no go! That said he comes to work with me and stays in the main clubhouse while I am cleaning or setting up for opening in various other parts of the club - he's more than happy there on his blanket with the TV on :)

Holly looks stunning by the way - love her ears:heart:

Yes it does get worse before it gets better. Then you get the crazy nippety teenager! Mollie was the worst I've had for this - she's only just out of the phase at nine months :rolleyes:

I promise you will forget all this, I cannot remember if my Labs were biting or not, I have a vague memory that they might have done the first day or two. I am sure they must have done more than that, but the mind erases it :D

We have had little Dawson now for two weeks and only started keeping him in the kitchen three night ago.I put him in his crate (never locked) and he hasn't made a sound!!! I even put him in Kitchen when he was wide awake and still no comeback even when Michael when dowsntairs for a drink.
I am no expert but maybe he was used to his surroundings and it wasn't such a bad experience for him.Either way he has slept more than me because I've stayed awake waiting for him to disturb and make a racket.
