YAY! For Coco. He has been to an "inside" cafe this afternoon for the first time. He pulled quite a bit to get in, but then sat nicely while we drank coffee. There were 4 other customers in, all eating (no dogs), one couple chatted happily to Coco, who behaved like the perfect dog. It was up at the ManxSPCA, where he came from, we could all hear the dogs barking in the kennels near by, but he didn't bother.
Stanley the best creature on this earth. He's too adorable! We've got Basil for the night again and I nipped up for a shower. I popped Basil in his crate incase they got hurt riling each other up and I could hear him whining for a short time. When I came down Stanley was sat infront of his crate giving him little reassuring licks and he'd brought all his toys over as if to cheer him up He really does have the biggest heart ever!
Thanks Emily. It's actually my parents place in Northern Victoria. They're on about 5 acres with 1,000 vines and two dams. Wine for us and swimming for Ella
Molly was in my room at nights till about 4 months old, then I moved her downstairs. At just over a year I moved her back to my room as she'd started barking at a neighbour coming home in the early hours. Now suddenly at nearly 4 years old, she's decided she wants to sleep downstairs again. A few nights ago she was reluctant to come up, so I left her and so she's slept on the sofa for the last three nights. I suppose it's just more comfortable but she took long enough to decide!
My supermarket delivery has just arrived, as it comes without bags I empty everything into the hall and then take it bit by bit to be put away. As soon as the deliveryman left, I popped upstairs and was distracted for 5 minutes by something OH was watching on TV. Suddenly he said - what on earth is Monty eating in the garden? Shot downstairs, and he'd nicked a huuuge block of cheddar - see remains below: I'm annoyed as this is my favourite brand of cheddar and I've been eating supermarket cheese for the last month waiting for it to come on special offer. My fault, I know I should never trust a labrador with newly arrived fresh food. OH has already taken a photo to dog shame him: Personally I don't think Monty's that bothered... he know's there's the remains of the block which is solely for him now! Could have been worse I suppose, the steaks or the bacon...
I finally bought Axel a harness. Tried it out today and it was so great! My only question is, can he wear it while swimming and while running around in the forest?
I always used to take Ella's harness off when we let her off lead. Not sure if it's a requirement though.. (very handsome Axel btw )
Axel is such a handsome fellow. I don't take Coco's harness off when he's running in the wood or swimming. It depends really, on the likelihood of it getting caught on something when you can't see him/don't know where he is. I am constantly working very hard on keeping Coco close (in sight) and I feel the risk in the wood we walk in is minimal. I like to be able to clip the lead on quickly (I NEVER clip to his collar) in an emergency. As for swimming, we only swim in the sea so far, there is very little chance of getting caught on something submerged. Rivers/streams/ponds - I'd be more careful I think.
@Emily I love that photo! It's bringing back memories from years ago of my toddler son and springer spaniel.
@Kelsey&Axel I always take Quinn's harness off when swimming - mainly because I don't want it to smell. Her first harness got really smelly, and washing it couldn't get the smell out. I also worry a bit about her getting caught (more so than a collar). We leave it on when in the woods, unless super muddy (same reason as above)!
