Considering how many people talk on the forum of the initial stress (and sleeplessness and general lack of time to even grab a shower) when having a new pup, I saw this online just now and thought you would find this hilarious.

They must be talking about BORROWING a puppy, not actually RAISING one. :D

Yeah, tell that to the apparent self-hatred scars on my arms :p

It's funny, I met a couple with a 17 week old yellow lab the other day. I asked if I could say hello and they said yes but warned me that he had been biting a bit recently. I said, of course he is, he's a lab (I had Ella with me). They were so relieved to hear it wasn't just their puppy and that they do grow out of it!

That's just it - I thought the irony was great that in fact, having a puppy is most of the time massively stressful (even if very worthwhile). Trust me, I know how hard all the puppy parents on here work to raise those adorable babies. Kudos to them. :)

I've no idea if I'll do half as well, but I'm quite sure I'll be posting here about pulling my hair out too!

Why do they always use Labrador/golden retriever puppy pics as well when they're the worst for it.

I fell for this propaganda and I've still got the scars to prove it. I never thought a 2kg puppy could be so monsterous!

A girl at work has a whippet puppy (11 weeks) - not one, single mark on her!

EDIT: and that one second in from the left knows.. he has that look on his face just before they're about to attack :D

you're so right it does seem to be part of the problem they think fluffy andrex pup and they get puppy Hannibal lecter. Once you realise what they are really like it's too late. Once you're hooked its over. I'm glad this site gives such a clear picture of Labrador pups. It really helps I never had anything like this when I had my first lab and would have loved the reassurance

I have a hard time with the fact that I warn people that he is a puppy with razors in his mouth and they all say not to worry they either have a puppy, or had one -and then are shocked that he has razors in his mouth :( I am trying my best to keep his teeth off people....but...he is 14 weeks old and a croco pup. The only people that get it are lab owners and they give his teeth a safe distance ;) what is it with labs?

I really don't know:)I was blessed with 2 relatively good ones then i got one like a piranha. None lab owners really don't get it. I've met some people who have GSD and Belgian shepherds and they can be mouthy too and they understand the razor thing

I'm one of those odd people who doesn't find it stressful at all and can't cope unless there is a crazy puppy in the house ...

The first 2 were fine but for the last one it was a combination of my chemo failing and being really ill and Rory being unwell himself that made it a more difficult time. The strange thing is that me and Rory are extremely close. I not a touchy feely person but he's be so affectionate and cuddly he's bought out a very loving side to me. he is a lot more tactile than my other dogs and id just so full of happiness it's infectious.
I don't think your crazy you've just found your thing and it makes you happy:D that's all we want in your lives fun and happiness

Puppy Hannibal Lechter! That's hilarious just like the ad of puppies!! They don't relieve stress until they are asleep and we get a break! Or when they get older and settle down! I thought my other lab would never make it to an age where she would slow down. Turned out 9 was her number to stop expecting 3 hours of intense exercise!!! What in the heck am I doing with 2 more retrievers??? Must be out of my mind!:p

Labrador mind control they keep us so tired and sleep deprived another one seems like a good idea when they've grown up enough for things to seem ok;) 3 is my perfect number of labs.

I'm typing next to my boy's crate. He's happily taken himself off in there and is all sleepy and sweet. I put my hand in and he put his paw in my hand - priceless.

Yet this same dog jumped up and ripped another chunk out of my already swollen and bruised finger (that's another story) a few hours ago. And whined and barked and just generally sounded off like a banshee because he was put outside at my daughter's house with her dogs to play for an hour.

They're master manipulators...and for those of you with more than one, may the force be with you ;)
