Ella would prefer me not to say but she does have rather fluffy bloomers! I like to comb them with my hands!
Hi Heather and welcome to the forum. A dudley is a Labrador with yellow coat and no black gene, so the rims of the eyes and the nose are pink or liver. Yellow dogs that start off with black noses may experience some fading to brown or even quite pink due to the degradation of an enzyme (this is often attributed to cold weather and may be referred to as "snow nose" or "winter nose"), but this doesn't make them dudleys, as they still have that black gene. The rings around their eyes will remain black. If your dog doesn't have dark around the eyes, they are likely a dudley. Do you know your girl's parentage? What colour were the parents?
FYI, this is a dudley: but this is not: Note that, even though the second dog's nose isn't black, the dark rings around the outside of the nose and eyes show he carries the black gene.
Daisy's mom was stolen right after she was born and we have no idea about her dad. They know mom was a lab. She has not a stitch of black on her anywhere. I have been so curious.. I'm trying to post pics but seem to have trouble because they want an Url address
Well, I would suggest that dad probably wasn't a Lab, judging by her markings, as Labs are generally solid in colour. It is possible to get mis-marks, such as white blobs on the chest, but I've never seen a mis-mark like the white on her face. If that's the case, she wouldn't be classified as a Dudley, because her genetics would be very different to the Labs that have very particular genes that regulate their colours. She's a lovely looking girl, though, very pretty To upload pictures, you need to use a third-party host, like Flickr or Imgur. There is detailed information in the Technical section of the forum
Homer has a pink nose but has dark pigment around his eyes and gums. You can see his pink nose quite clearly in his avatar pic.
Harley doesn't have much tail or leg fluff but I am sharing this photo because because I think she has the most adorable hind end #totallybiased
I have been meeting up with 2 other labs for the early morning walks. I think she may have been a member here? One of her labs I have just realised is also a dudley, she is gorgeous I must take a photo of her next time
Our Oscar is definitely a Dudley, and we wouldn’t change that for the world - his pinkness makes him a sight for sore eyes
