Hi Everyone, Joey is currently 10 weeks old. He will be looking at my partner or myself, all calm, and the next minute he will somehow have grabbed my hair in his mouth and won't let go or is biting down on us, hard. We have tried to train him with the words "Leave it" and have tried to offer him toys to replace my hair/our hands, but he wants nothing to do with them. As he is getting bigger, I'm getting worried that he won't stop this. Does anyone have any advice? Willing to try anything! He also seems to not be interested in any of his toys/teething toys. Just wondering, if any of you guys have experienced this with your labs? Other than the chewing/keeping my hair hostage, Joey is a great pup!
Ahh I feel your pain! Bramble used to delight in grabbing my hair! Ouch!!! A pup that young finds your reaction really exciting, and much more exciting than some toy you are desperately trying to swap your locks with. If you can, try and invest some playfulness with the toy, and try not to react when pup grabs your hair, difficult I know! Try a squeaky voice with the toy, and play just out of the pups reach...the pup learns that the toy is fun and exciting...and your hair is borrrinnnggggg. Good luck though, although you may have to resort to a baseball cap inside until this phase is over!
He will stop, in about three or four months time. Meanwhile tie your hair up and be more determined than he is that he will bite chews and toys and not you. Mollie is ten months old now and has only just really come out of the bitey stage. She's been the worst I've had by far.
Ah yep! Already had an incident with my Tiffany and Co earrings. Joey went for my ear and swallowed it before I could get to it Very much a Marley and Me moment!

Hi, keep him away from faces, hair , kids anything really that cause trouble when bitten. Distract with cardboard boxes, frozen kongs anything else he likes. Meg loved shredding boxes. My house looked a tip but it worked and the phase passed ...good luck
I've got one of a pair that passed through Rory. I was going to wear them yesterday but I would have spent the whole day giggling so I went for the none doggie version instead
Thanks for the advice I'm glad that it may only be a phase. I've only had mini foxies and have never experienced this, so I thought I may have been given a devil pup
My friend breeds miniature schnauzers, she never fails to be shocked how my crocapup Labs bite! My next pup is going to be a Golden Retriever, I'll let you know if he's as bad! (He will be my sixth pup, apart from my pet Lab, I raise pups for Guide Dogs)
Whenever I'm near pups my hair goes up too for the same reason. Much easier to remove it to start with. As everyone else has said, boxes are brilliant. My girl still rips them to pieces at nearly 4 years old.
I used cardboard boxes too and Oban still loves them. Egg crates are great because I can make them "bite" his nose. And tissue boxes with the slit in the middle of a piece of clear plastic. I can push them onto his nose and they stay there till he shakes and runs and jumps around and paws them off. He loves to play both these ways.
