Does anyone else's dog pick their own fruit??? Poppy has never done this, but Merlin just about gets his own breakfast on our morning walk, now that the blackberries are ripe! He certainly gets his five-a-day, that's for sure!
Yep Moo picks everything but the boys like me to pick them for them and present them into the waiting mouths They are .like little baby birds.although Doug used to eat all the peapods strawberries and raspberries
Yes, we had 2 dogs when I was growing up that did this, one GR and one Gordon Setter. And Cassie loves fruit, pears are a big favourite. There are some wild raspberries growing by the lake which she helped herself to, I must bring the blackberries to her attention. French beans are a recent fancy, I think she would chomp them off the plant if I let her !
My girls love figs, fresh from the tree. It makes their poo look like fig rolls. Carob is a favourite for Squidge, too. Willow ate it last year, but isn't interested this year. Shadow thinks they're nuts on both counts.
Yes, mine do/have. All kinds of berries so I have to watch out they don't eat poisonous ones. I make wild blackberry jelly and for friends and the Vet write on the card that the dog helped, "but don't worry, she ate all hers."
Plum is bonkers for blackberries and has her head in every bush we pass snaffling to her heart's content! She also looks up at me if she can't reach as if asking me to get them for her. It's very sweet.
Sky used to help herself to raspberries when we had our allotment. She loves blackberries and DH stops at the blackberry bushes with her on the way back from their walk and they have a forage .
Oh yes ! We sometimes walk down a local bridle path , known as Blackberry Lane , for obvious reasons , Sam loves this walk , he grazes his way from start to end x
Holly grazes blackberries along her walks at this time of year. She started when she was a puppy and just loves it. She's also mapped out all the fruit trees in the area that overhang paths - a useful source of windfalls.
Coco eventually worked out where they came from last year....but seems to have forgotten this year, I have to pick them for him.
Yes, Molly picks blackberries, and any other fruit within reach. We have to watch her carefully when she tries to pick up fallen laurel berries! We also have a cat with a passion for runner beans ! Every bean season, if its warm enough, I sit in the garden and slice them up into freezer bags. Without fail, Jenny the oldest cat turns up with a squawk for her share. She eats at least 1 bean - in small slices, purring loudly as she eats them. Funny little thing, she's done this since she was a kitten, she's now 13.
