Hello! I'm new to this forum! I've had labs since I was a kid! I have a 3 yo choc male and a 1.5 yo yellow female! I plan to breed (I've had one previous accidental litter of 10 live plus 3 born dead with my male) I am a beginner breeder and would appreciate any tips/advice you all have! I am going to get my female tested for eye and hips when she's two and then go from there! My male has multiple masters in his bloodline and retrieves well. He,is gunshy but none of his puppies are. All but 2 are phenomenal retrievers. My female is out of exceptional lines with many masters and is a great retriever. I hunt doves but that's the only fowl i enjoy to hunt. I am currently training her to retrieve them and she is learning very quickly. I am new to genetics and am learning as I go. Please be friendly.
Hi and welcome from me and 4 year old girl, Harley. Are you going to get your boy tested too? What are their temperaments like?
Getting him tested this fall! Female(luna) is very outgoing and energetic with a great temperament. Although she is my guard dog of my pack but she's sweet once she checks everything out. Calm when she's in the house. Male(ruger) is outgoing and loves everyone.
Hi and welcome to the forum, from the Beanwood Pack. Your labs sound lovely, and it's good that your are prepared to undergo all the appropriate health tests required before going ahead. In the UK we look at a wide variety of health testing, some info in the article below you might find useful. Generally speaking, labradors are split into working, show labradors and dual purpose. If they are working alongside the appropriate health testing, the sire and dam usually have evidence of success in the working field, Field trials, Gundog tests as w https://www.thelabradorsite.com/health-screening-for-labrador-diseases/ More information on breeding from your labradors here: https://www.thelabradorsite.com/breeding-from-your-labrador/
