It could be a number of things - food allergy, environmental allergy, parasites...I believe all can lead to skin infection if left untreated, which may also cause small wounds if your pup is biting and scratching a lot.

My dog has seasonal allergies, and scratched herself to bleeding on her tummy last year and developed a skin infection and eye infections. Other signs of allergy can be biting at paws and shaking head (ears being bothered and/or infected). A vet can help with the infection by prescribing medication and possibly a soothing wash, but it can be hard to determine the cause of the allergy. Do you live somewhere where the seasons change? We ruled out food allergy after the our dog's symptom's went away after first frost and her fur grew back. We now know year 2 that she has seasonal allergies and have her on a medication to treat that and did not switch her food.

Hope the vet sorts out the issue tomorrow for you.

It could be not an allergy at all but a problem in the gut. Some Vets, particularly Holistic Vets, now believe this and it seems to have been true for my boy. Once we got his gut cleared up his itching stopped. We did think he had seasonal environmental allergies before that and he was on Atopica for three years before the gut issue dramatically reared it's head. However, I did the Nutriscan saliva test and it shows he DOES now have some food intolerances. These things do tend to worsen and multiply as time goes on.

Thank you for your informative reply. We’ve in a city where the altitude is around 720m, and the city has a snowy weather mostly. Only in summer it wasn’t too hot for a couple of weeks; and now suddenly it changed to a cold in the morning, hot in the noon , and cold again in the night. I don’t know if this would be the reason. She lives with us for 10 months and so far she had no problem. For me, the worst thing is that, I took her to the vet, he made and injection and he told me come here after 1 week, and also check her wounds whether they are still there , or they went. No sample taking and checking it with microscop or etc. It’s like I am the vet and I will make the observations, and he just make the injection. Anyway, today in the evening I will be going to İstanbul where I know nice animal hospitals and hopefully the cause of these symptoms will be detected to be cured.
Also, a couple of times we gave her chicken bones that we cooked for her, and she vomited 4/5 times we gave. And now the new food we have been feeding her for last 2-3 weeks is with chicken and these things started around 2-3 weeks too. That’s why I think mostly it looks like a food allergy.
But really thank you. You helped much more than a closer vet while you are most probably thousands of km away

Thank you. I will check nutriscan test if it is possible in Istanbul and if it’s , I will make it for cinnamon. Coz it made us sad a lot to see her in this condition. We love her , she understands us what ever we say. But, thinking that we could not understand her really makes us sad. Maybe understanding her language is also passing through such tests like nutriscan. Thank you a lot

Hi there, interestingly chicken is a very common allergen, more so than wheat. It might be worth looking for a kibble which excludes chicken completely. You can try a single source protein kibble to test this, such as a lamb kibble or fish. You would need to check the ingredient list very carefully or contact the manufacturer to be sure.

Also and this is VERY important. Do not give her cooked chicken bones, they are very dangerous. The cooking process causes the bones to become very brittle. They can cause serious damage inside a dog.

    Hi there,
Thank you for your advise. At first we couldn’t understand that the vomiting issue but last time we figured out it’s from chicken and we decide to give her never again. About kibble, after her treatment is planned and she settles downs , I will put extra effort to find the best one for her. So far we fed her with acana grass-lamp. But a couple of week ago we changed it to acana puppy & junior as we thought this would be better than lamp grass one. But, I guess we were wrong.
Anyway, again thank you for your comments and advises. We’ll keep them in mind to apply.

    Hi All,
It has been long time for me not loggin in the forum. Just as a short summary, we take cinnamon to another well threatened vet and they just tell it looks like food allergy. So we gave her a brand’s anallargic kibble-not giving the brand as I do not know forum rules on giving brand names-
In a few weeks she got very well :) and her fur started to grown up with a lighter color tone which makes her look funny :) in the end, she is happy and healthful so we are happy :)
also, the vet made her two times an injection of mange just to be procautious as we also have a baby boy (3 months old) at home. But we are sure it was from both seasonal change and the kibble with chicken
Just thank you for all your advises on this topic. They made us feel comfortable while we were waiting to go a better vet.
