    Thinking of you and Moo. I hope the vet can offer some more effective pain management.

    Dear Moo :inlove::inlove:
    I swear though these older labs have got us sussed ...Casper eats off my plate, he is not allowed to though, but he does. between us we make sure my OH doesn't know. I just look at his now grey and grizzled face and well....:D

    Well she's a perky as hell today chased and played bitey face with Rory and had a nice little walk. Tired and having a sleep now. She's a happy little thing today. Its a bit warmer today and she had a rest yesterday . :D my Oh always laughs at her because she stamps her little feet when she doesn't get her own way.

    Well double s**t and bu**er she barked at 4 am and I went to check her. To find her collapsed in a heap and not moving. I thought she's dead but no she was asleep and just didn't hear me. She was deeply asleep so I had to switch the light on wake her. I think she's been barking in her sleep again.I think its all part of her evil Moo plan to give me a heart attack and take me out before she dies . you know Moo she bl**dy would. Note to shelf check her breathing before nearly fainting.:eek:

    Glad she is ok. At first I didn't want to read this after the second sentence.

    Yep I nearly lost it this morning i found Freyja dead one morning it's something that you don't really forget. I've just got to remember she can't hear anything now. She is a worry.

    Don't feel sad it's just part of an old dogs life and living with the ups and downs. Just a bit of a bad start to the day. I do find and I think always will find life with Moo amusing and silly most of the time.

    Oh, I remember this when looking after our friend's dog (who was 20 years old!!!). He was asleep on the landing, but we couldn't see him breathing, he didn't respond to our voices - not surprisingly, because he was deaf. It's terrifying, must be moreso when it's your own beloved dog. Has your heart stopped racing yet?

    What a shock. Thoughts are with you. I am currently letting our neighbours very old dog out at lunch time as she has started to wee on the floor. The other day she was in a very deep sleep - I thought she was dead. I know it will happen in the not too distant future - she is just a bag of bones, bless her.

    I'm fine just laughing at my own silliness. She's getting to the stage Doug was at, Chris keeps reminding me that she's not a frail as I think. I hate it when they get to the stage were I'm checking to see if they are still breathing. This morning was startling though. It's just getting to the accepting stage for me. If she did die in her sleep for me it would not be a bad thing. She'd be in the place she is happy and loves . She's had the most fun action packed life and crispy chicken skin for supper.

    Old dogs do seem to sleep very deeply. with Belle (12+), she would sneak into the bedroom & sleep half under the bed, I was forever crouching over her, looking for a sign she was breathing (she always was, of course), not wanting to wake her from such a deep sleep. Hugs to you & Moo today xx

    Wouldn't it just be the best way, if our old or poorly dogs could just slip away and leave us in their sleep ? Thought with you and your dear Moo xxxx

    What a shock. I’m glad today wasn’t the day. My last dog died in his sleep ( in old age) very peacefully, no signs of distress - which was both awful and good.
