@JenBainbridge I just love this photo , that is blatant begging at its finest , Sam says Kudos to Stanley !
We've come glamping for a few days in a little dog friendly hut. It's lovely. But ohhhh it's highlighted how in some aspects we need to work with Mr Stanley. At home the three of us muddle along just fine but here.. It's dog friendly but they request that dogs sleep in their own beds. Fair enough! We didn't bring Stanleys crate, the door hasn't been shut for months at home so just his bed and the hut is quite small. Well that dog is having NONE! He whines if he's not allowed on the bed with us, and has been constantly trying to jump up. OH let him last night but tonight I've said no, he has to learn. Ohhh I'm getting the stink eye from his bed right now.. There's a hot tub here. No dogs again. The hut is enclosed but there's sheep in the next field and I think Stanley could squeeze under. So we tied him up next to us with a tasty kong. Half an hour later when all has been quiet a little black demon trots past the hot tub. He'd ignored his kong and chewed through his lead!! Lastly, the barking. Oh the barking. Every little noise a howl erupts and yap yap yap. He's not really much of a barker at home so this has been a bit of a shock. BUT credit where credits due.. he's been a little delight in all the pubs, making lots of friends. And he's been really well behaved in the hut apart from the bed situation, not chewing or barging around. Always a learning curve with these pups!
Best begging fave Stanley! Surely you managed to get a little taste of their dinner??! My parents were over the other night so we put Ella in her crate while we ate (she usually lies under the table but my parents don't really like it). She felt that she needed to be a part of it
Jess has decided that her new favourite place in the house is to sit on my knee while I'm working so that she can look out the window. This has taught me two things: 1. A dog on your lap, while delightful, is not conducive to typing productivity. 2. Wow, a lot of wildlife comes into our small garden! In less than an hour this morning we have had blackbirds, pigeons, sparrows, crows, a squirrel and a cat, not to mention the lesser-spotted city bus in the distance. The cat was the last straw. Jess is now back in her bed. Neither of us can take the stress any more.
I think Stanleys done with glamping life and his peasant bed. He'd like to go home to his couch now thank you!
Poor Stanley! Chin up Stanley, you'll be home soon When we stayed in a "dogs welcome but not on the bed" hotel we just took throws and completely covered the bed and let Jess up on that. I don't think she would have stayed on the floor, so kudos to Stanley for that even if he is sulking about it!
We'll definitely do that next time. For being such a good boy and staying on his bed all night he was allowed cuddles on the bed for an hour this morning. I think we've both got bruises from the force of the wagging tail!
The Pig!! I thought she'd been suspiciously quiet this morning...turns out she'd gone feral and put herself up for adoption on Facebook. Honestly, I turn my back for one moment...
OK I’ll confess -we’ve done that twice too! Last time, when renting a house, I took at least 6 large blankets and covered everything. We had a nice time and the owner thanked me for leaving it clean. What the eye doesn’t see...
Coco hasn't seen his pal Big Loki the Mastiff x for a couple of weeks - he came to training last night and they had a good old on-lead wrestle, rearing up on hind legs, while hugging each other, then taking it in turns to be floored & roll over. Super fun. Great to watch the two handlers deftly keep the leads untangled - that's quite a skill! Afterwards Coco went to play with Amber, she's a skinny little Lab pup of about 17 weeks. She reared up and bounced on Coco's head, boxing him with her paws, while he bowed to her. So lovely to watch his different styles of play.
We have a new fireplace being installed. Holly is usually OK with workmen but this time she keeps wanting to 'help' him. We've had to put her in the kitchen. She's lying in bed looking very glum.
I actually feel a bit mean now. Since we've got home Stanley has just been snoozing really deeply. I hope he's just tired from all his walking and playing and didn't find it very stressful poor little love
Jess did that - we spent our holiday thinking that she must be having a wonderful time, going for big long walks and being around us both all day long. On the last couple of days she took to sitting by the car and looking longingly at it, and when we actually got home you could practically hear her sigh of relief. Obviously we have made their life at home so perfect that they don't want anything else!
Every time we go to my mum and dads place (5acres to run on and two dams to swim in) Ella is so excited and has a great time. However, she's always so keen to jump in the car when it's time to go home. I wonder if they enjoy the adventures and excitement but they love their home as well.
I had a but of a shock today. My work colleague has a giant breed dog he's lovely but has got to have both his knees operated on he's only 6. My friend is relieved because that's old for this breed and all his litter mates have all died. I found this shocking thats too short a life span for any dog. it's just not right
I don't think I could cope with the pain of lossing a dog after such a short time. I don't think I would want to breed them either. Made me feel so sad
