Oh my word, he is so precious! I have too keep reminding myself that under that cuteness are crocopup teeth...

Welcome to labrador puppy hood @Emma88. Please ensure that you and your OH get as much sleep as possible before the end of October :) Our pup, Harley has just turned 1 year and I must say I love and enjoy her so much that I would do it again, but I prefer not to.

Thanks everyone! My worry is beginning to set in again in terms of not having everything before we get pup! Main concerns are the baby gate and pen/room dividers plus plug socket protectors as the room it will be sleeping in has a socket. We've got the crate, two beds and numerous toys!

Well, he is just adorable!!! I hope you have a lot of fun with him.
I got the puppy blues with one of my dogs but not with the others so I think it just depends how well prepared you are and how well you can rest when the pup does. It is like having a new baby in the house except that they bite! Remind yourself often that they do grow up and are the best friends you can have for the rest of their lives.
Good luck with little Leo and enjoy him.

He looks gorgeous and you sound very well organised. I probably shouldn’t admit it but (whispers) I got Molly on the spur of the moment. I had a few things left from my last dog but the first couple of days were make-do. A cardboard box for a bed, bits of furniture and old bits of fencing from the shed to block things off. So I reckon you’ll be just fine!

He's gorgeous! Love the name too!

Don't worry, you'll work out what you need (and what you need to lock up) as you go along.:D

My Ella is a sock thief. Two years later and my OH still hasn't learnt to keep his sock draw closed

My first post on here was a similar question. I was picking baby Tatze up and preparing everything. Tatze is four years old now and I’m so grateful for this site. All the advice and articles helped me bring her up and gave me confidence to begin puppy walking- now I have a pup every year!

The main answer then was was ‘get lots of sleep and charge up your camera, everything will fall into place’

    :)

Thanks Aitch! You are right! I am worried about the sleep part as I do like mine but it'll definitely be worth it! I cant wait for that part when you form the bond with them!

Your new puppy is gorgeous! We have not long had our black lab and she is now 8 weeks, I thought I was prepared for her but it turns out I was not lol. One thing I advise if you are like me (a mum of 2) or even if you go out a lot, invest in a puppy sling. We have started the puppy socialisation and she has lots of fussing on the school run whilst i’m Trying to keep track of 2 kids while holding a lunch bag book bag and a coat they didn’t want to wear lol x

Aww he is lovely -Nibbler is six months now - the first few weeks are unbelievably hard - needed constant supervision and let out a lot - quite a few stealth poos in the dining room when we weren’t paying attention -don’t worry you smell them soon enough. Does get easier though. Guess they are all different -Nibbler shows no interest in shoes - socks yes but doesn’t eat them just brings them to you.No damage at all to any furniture just a few wee scrapes of the skirting boards -not much you can do about that really apart from replace them when the chewing has stopped. Definitely worth it though - enjoy.

Thank you Emily - he is SO cute! but don't let the cuteness fool you! He is also very cheeky! As soon as we stepped in the puppy pen to view him he crept up towards my OH's feet and proceeded to TRY to unite his laces! I then picked him up and he continued his bitey obsession by trying to get to the zipper on my jacket! All very cute when they have no teeth mind! I am now fully stocked up on kongs and ropey toys for when the croc teeth arrive!

Thanks Nibblers Mum - that's reassured me a bit! I guess you just cannot tell how they are going to be until you've had them for a couple of months. I like to be prepared though ;)

Hi Alexandra - You're puppy is so cute too! No children at the moment, although the sling still sounds like a fab idea especially when taking him to the vets for the first time! I shall definitely look into this so thanks!!

Don't let him fool you. If you hadn't noticed, he'd have tied them up again - to each other :D

Definitely! children or not it’s one of my best buys, get the socalisation started early and not to mention when you are juggling a puppy in one arm and signing papers at vets or paying for stuff lol x
