Same, crazy weather! Plus that weird orange sky I read that it is caused from hurricane winds blowing in Saharan sand. No rain here thankfully, rain plus gusting winds = horrible. Wizard of Oz reference
It's amazing to see how much more Ella is interested in Nathan now that he's getting a bit older (he'll be 2 in Jan). He can get her to sit and drop on cue, although he's usually holding food when he asks her. He also calls her when the back door is open "Ella! Outside!" and she usually gets up to go outside with him. They play tug and catch well together and he feeds her dinner every night. We've taught him to always give her food and then always leave her alone to eat. We also have a really strict rule that if Ella gets up and walks away then "all done" and Nathan is not allowed to go near her again. Tonight they rolled around on the grass together and Ella played a "no touch" version of bitey face. Then they played in the water and dug holes in the dirt together.
I was relieved to wake up to find we are still in Kansas ! Over 130 trees down on the roads of the Isle of Man last night. Coco totally loopy when I came in from work, dancing around the garden in the wind while OH inspected the roof tiles.
@Emily Such lovely photos. They brought back memories from over 30 years ago of my toddler son playing with our gorgeous springer. @edzbird Thats an awful lot of trees blown down, but glad you’re safe.
Holly met a stag today. It had its back to her and she was nose to the floor following a scent so neither knew the other was there. When I saw it I gave a recall whistle. Both looked up and saw each other. I'd guess that they were only 20-30 paces apart. They stared at each other. I held my breath. Then Holly turned around and trotted back to me as if nothing had happened. The stag turned and cantered back into the trees.
She's a very calm dog. She doesn't chase things and takes everything in her stride. I'm just glad that the stag didn't see her as a threat.
We've got two young males living in our garden I think their parents left them behind when they moved on. We have watched them grow up and they are now practising clashing antlers, it's been quite amusing to watch while they are still small but I would rather they move out now before they get any bigger.
