Poor Poppy had a cluster of seizures this morning; almost a year to the day since her last seizure. I am feeling sad about it, as I thought perhaps we were out of the woods with this... She's ok now, a bit wobbly but that's probably due to the diazepam I administered her. As always, it is difficult to pinpoint what could have triggered this, although it has been a very stressful week as OH has been away and I have been juggling full days at work starting with 8 am meetings, while at the same time making sure the dogs are properly looked after. Since this isn't a normal situation for us (mostly OH works from home) I don't have a professional dog walker set up, but I do have good back up with friends and neighbors and my lovely cleaning lady. Nonetheless, it was stressful and involved me rushing home at lunchtime a couple of times, and Merlin vomiting up his breakfast on the rug JUST as I was leaving out of the front door to get to my meeting... So maybe it was all a bit stressy for Pops.

I am keeping a careful eye on her, as the next 48 hours are the most critical for a repeat of the seizures, apparently. :(

Poor lass. What a stress for you...wish you did not have to have this on your radar at all.

Hope she has a long seizure-free period ahead.

    I'm sorry to read this.
Hopefully it will be a little more relaxing for her if you are able to be with her most of today and as much as possible over the weekend.

Fingers crossed it won't be repeated. I know how you must be feeling after such a positive long time without a seizure x

I am so sorry @Karen.:hug: I do think dogs are very sensitive to stress/changes on the homefront. We have had very topsy-turvy few weeks, this has definitely affected the Beanwood pack.
I hope Poppy settles down, and this cluster is just a one-off. Do you have a quieter week next week?

So sorry Karen! It must be awful for you, having stress for being alone and work stress. Hope that Poppy soon settle down and that rest is coming back into your household!

Having had an epileptic dog, I know how you must be feeling. However, a year since the last seizure is encouraging, but I know you would rather it hadn't happened at all, we live from seizure to seizure hoping they would never happen again. It does seem possible that the change in her normal routine could have been the reason.

I am almost having to laugh though, thinking about this morning - she was so happy to see OH and skipped down the garden with him, a bit over-the-top hyper actually, which thinking back was probably a sign all was not quite right... OH gave her her breakfast, and she was crouching oddly over the bowl while chomping down on the food as fast as she could... Clearly she felt a seizure coming on, and was not going to let it get in the way of her breakfast!!! Gotta love a greedy Labrador...

Poor Poppy and poor you. It must be so distressing. I'm glad she has her priorities in order, though :)

Ah no, sorry Poppy has had further seizures. I do hope she's soon back to herself and remains seizure free for the foreseeable.

So sorry to read this. Could there be a pattern - do you think something happens at this time of year to trigger a seizure, like a change in seasonal temps, crop spraying, etc?

I think Pops may have had a mini-seizure, or showed signs of pre-seizure aura yesterday evening. She was lying on the couch next to me, watching The Crown (her favourite ;)), and she started licking her lips and flicking her head to one side, looking up as if she could see something above her head. I've seen her do this just before a seizure, so we were immediately on high alert, although you probably wouldn't even have been aware of it in a dog without her history; you'd just have thought a fly or something had disturbed her. We stroked her, and talked gently to her, and it seemed to pass without developing into a full-blown episode. We're on seizure-watch now though, and she slept with me last night, but touch wood she seems fine so far.

It's useful to keep a note like this, so I can refer back to it if necessary...
