My daughter lives in Plymouth and we've decided to go and visit her next month. She is in a relationship and we have met him - he's lovely. We wanted to go and see them rather than them always coming back to Bristol, plus it will give us the opportunity to meet his parents.

I have spent hours today phoning B&B's, hotels, cottages etc trying to find dog-friendly accommodation for 1 night in November. I really can't believe how many places said no when I said it was a Labrador! Others would only do a min 2 night booking or wanted silly money (£125+) for 1 night.
I googled and went on websites that specifically promoted dog-friendly accommodation and was shocked how many places clearly stated 'no pets' or 'no dogs'. How can they be on dog friendly pages??

I nearly gave up but decided to phone one more place (Moorland Hotel) that said they were 'dog friendly' on their website (and had a photo of a chocolate lab in the dining room on their photos). It is in a fabulous location (about 20 min drive from Plymouth), allows dogs in the bar and has dinner tables that you can book that are dog friendly, plus they can go to breakfast with you. They said when we arrive they could give us suggestions for walks and also didn't mind that I said Harley might get wet and muddy. The best part of it is that it is £70 which includes breakfast!! The reviews I have read have been pretty good too.

Anyway, I will let you know how we get on.

That's a shame :(. Hopefully next year we will be back at the camp ground we stayed at a few months ago and get to meet you then :).

What a fantastic weekend. The hotel was so welcoming and Harley really impressed us. We arrived, checked in, unloaded the van then went off for a fantastic walk in the woods with my daughter & her OH. Back to the hotel for dinner with daughters OH parents who were really nice........Harley was soooo good in the restuarant and so many people complemented us on how well behaved she was. We went into the bar for a few hours and after having a tripe bone she fell asleep by the fire. She was a bit unsettled overnight - got up twice wanting to go outside then up again at 7.30am. I still think this was good seeing as though this was her first time in a hotel.
The only downside was the info they gave me about breakfast was wrong as it has a buffet in the restuarant, but allowed me to take food to our room so was ok. Checked out after every member of staff stopping us to say how well behaved and how gorgeous Harley was. I apologised for getting dome mud on the duvet covers (they were white!! But it is in the countryside), they were not bothered at all.
Off to Sheeptors for a final walk with our daughter and her OH.
Now back home and chilling out. Harley is shattered, but loved it.

Lovely photos and sounds like a great trip. I’ll keep this hotel in mind as my OH has family in Plymouth so it could be a good place for us to stay.
