I have been looking at beds for our little lady, i have ordered a crate and vet bed, but not sure what time of bed to get her. So wondered what you have?
My labs don't get beds until they stop chewing they only eat them. Vets bed is fine until they reach the no bed eat stage. They will eat them no bed is lab proof
I agree with @SwampDonkey Hattie didn't chew beds but Charlie ate his bodyweight in beds so I gave up and bought a plastic one with fleece liner which he never chewed. Vetbed is great and is perfect until the chewing stops x
Not even a blanket in the crate for us when Oban was small. Now he has one queen size bed and one long chesterfield and a loveseat.
I bought a really cheap soft bed from a discount shop when we got Ella. She also came home from the breeder with a blanket and soft toy that had been in her mum's bed for a week before. Luckily, she's never been a destroyer so we've just upgraded the beds as she's grown (she still has the blanket and soft toy from when we got her). You could try a cheap bed to see what type of puppy you end up with. Then, if it explodes in the puppy's presence, at least you haven't lost much and you know that vetbed/crate/plastic bed are a better option for a while.
I wouldn’t rush to get a bed. Your vetbed should be fine for her crate. I had an old cushion of Sky’s which I placed on the floor as a day bed which is still in use. Red did a bit of chewing when she was very little but now at 10 months has started chewing again during the night which is a bit frustrating.
Mine start in a plastic bed and move to a zooplus bed when they grow out of it. That way, if they wee on the floor, the bed keeps dry. They are in a puppy pen until they grow out of that. With winter pups I have a heat pad for the first few days and a ticking clock above the pen. I leave the radio on overnight too, until they have settled. Tatze trying it for size lol I put teddies in to emulate litter mates, Keir’s have gone away now for the next pup, he de-stuffs them now. The bit of pink towel came from the breeder, with Mum’s smell on it.
I’m worried about giving Esme soft toys as My three has them so I don’t want Esme to think it’s ok have Eliza’s toys in her mouth.
They soon learn which toys are ‘theirs’. Our twins visit often and the dogs leave their toys alone. They need to be taught, of course.
When Nelson was small, he had a folded up towel inside a cardboard box (tipped on its side). He couldn't have been happier. Once he moved on to the stage where he chewed his box/home to pieces, we tried a large dog cushion, he destroyed that. A poor decisiong and waste of money. We then got a Kuranda dog bed, which has been just perfect (if you check my earlier posts, there is a "review" of this bed).
