No more crutches or cane. I finish Physical Therapy next week, but I still have exercises to do for strength building. I think I could ski easy runs now, but our season doesn't start for at least two months, so I expect to be "good to go."
Good to hear you are getting around now. When I was still on crutches, I really liked having a small bag that attached to my crutch. When you start walking outside with crutches, a bike messenger bag (shoulder bag) is a big help. Too bad you didn't break your hip instead of you knee. Hip surgery is a lot simpler, and the recovery is a lot shorter. I broke my first one at 71 and the second at 74. My recovery from this one is a lot shorter than the first, because the injury was less severe.
I know I was just saying the same thing today to my OH. I hope she is ok. How are you @Ski-Patroller?
I do love how the forum spills out into our everyday lives. I'll say "Rachael said...." and, if it has anything to do with dogs, he'll know it's not my sister Rachel and say, "the one in Australia?" Or, "Emily said...", and he says "The one who visited us, or the one in Australia?" "Kate said...".... "Kate with Benson and Bramble or Sam?" Hope you're OK, @DebzC
It is funny isn't it. My OH laughs at my "forum friendships" but he's spent the whole weekend asking for updates on Sam.
So sorry to hear this. Was she running in a off leash area? I am planning on taking two socks to a off leash area to run. this makes me wonder if I should or not. I do hope that you recover with speed. My Prayers are with you puppy mom & two socks
You absolutely should. Dogs need to run. Think of the hundreds of thousands of dogs who run off-lead every day without something like this happening. It’s a freak accident, that’s all.
Absolutely, as Snowbunny said, dogs need to run. Cooper is very fast, and just loves to run. If there is nothing else going on, she will run 50 yards away from me and then run back full speed. She loves to chase and retrieve tennis balls and catch frisbees. We saw a pretty good dog wreck a few weeks ago, when a young Golden decided to go after the ball I chucked for Cooper. He came in from the side, and I don't think either dog saw the other until they hit, almost head on. Both dogs looked really surprised. Cooper was fine, and the Golden limped for a few minutes, but was fine later, and looked normal the next time we saw him. If you are in an area with dogs running, it is a good idea to stand with knees slightly bent, and also pay attention to the dogs, especially if there is a big game of chase going on. I've been hit several times over the years but no damage.
