We’re up to a super king now and I still have no leg room because my lab sleeps diagonally across my half of it! I keep shifting him over, which is like trying to move a small comatose bear. He sleeps laying on his back with his legs all akimbo and doesn’t budge when it’s bedtime, he goes totally dead to the world no matter how much I prod him to move over. The things we do...
Four dogs on the bed, one human (DH) hanging out one side and the other (me) scrunched up on pillow with no duvet.
I can hardly sleep with one smallish labrador in a Queen bed!...can't even picture how you fit all those bodies in!
I'm well jealous! Our bedroom isn't big enough for anything more than a double. We will struggle on...
It was so hard walking today. Every step hurt but it didn't matter Rory was so good and so much fun. He behaved beautifully he will never win a obedience class or present me with a pheasant but his happy smiley face and his good vibes get me through the day.He constantly checked me today and responded so well to everything i asked i just don't know how we got there. He reminds me of Douglas now he reads me well clever boy.
Sorry you're hurting, Swampy, but our dogs do have an amazing ability to make us smile through the hardest times. Even other forum dogs who I have never met make me smile with their antics. I do love this forum. Sorry, that was a bit pink and fluffy. Normal service will be resumed shortly.
Only two dogs on the bed last night. Squidge was back on the sofa downstairs and Willow was on the spare bed. It doesn't make much difference, though, because it's Shadow who's the problem. I swear he's a liquid. If you move a millimetre, he expands to fill that space.
Well I just sneaked out of work it's not much fun when it hurts to breathe and y boss said go home but I'm going to snuggle up to the dogs
At work today I noticed I had something fairly sticky in my hair...with an odd odour.............. ..... took a minute or two before I realised it was doggy toothpaste!
I can’t imagine Axel sleeps straight as a pencil when on our bed thankfully, right down between us, but always with his head on me. The other night I was spooning Axel and Axel was litterally spooning the OH, leg draped over him and everything. That was the night that had us bed shopping the next day
OH hates having Vanilla on her side, so she sleeps on my side. My back end hanging out or just on the edge. During the night I end up with a dog that is either sleeping long ways next to me same as Axel, or head over my chest/legs body on the bed or with her head on my pillow facing me like a baby or is curled up on the pillow and starts to lick my face/head then rests her head either on top of my pillow (as if I was wearing a dog hat) or has her head on my cheek and sleeping there (if I am on the side sleeping). Great night sleeps for me, OH dead to the world or gets really annoyed that Vanilla does not cuddle her in the same way. When that happens it is a 'she is taking over the bed' comment. When Vanilla then does not come to bed I get OH saying 'where is she and I miss her'. Go figure
Nathan absolutely loves to give Ella her dinner in the evening. We figured it's not a bad thing for her to associate such a good part of her day with him so we just help him scoop out the food and make sure he leaves her alone as soon as she starts eating. We've always tapped Ella's bowl and said "have it" when we feed her so we've taught Nathan to do the same. However, he says "Ahh-it" and Ella just looks at us like until we tell her to have it. Maybe we should start saying "Ahh-it" too!
Last night OH went out to his regular (five or six times a year) "all boys together" session with friends in Bristol. He goes by train so I take him to the station and pick him up again. Pongo was sort of looking for him all evening, but pretty quiet and snoozy as usual. Then when I got up to go to the station to pick Paul up, Pongo went crazy! BouncybouncybouncyI'mcomingtooletmeletmeletmeOUTTHATDOOR and he ran straight to the car and pawed at the boot to get in. So of course he came with me to pick his daddy up from the station and was deliriously happy to see him. I have to think that he knew I was going to get Paul. But how, how on earth did he figure that one out?
I'm in trouble with Rory, I've just hit sleepy head time. I usually can't sleep but sometimes I can't keep awake. I've just slept 3 hours straight and when I woke up I got a full lick your face wheres my 9pm snack you beast. The situation is now rectified and now back in his good books.
On our walk this afternoon, we passed the bottom of a very large garden. A big, dark yellow lab came hurtling out of the house, barking and bouncing at the chain fence. When we came back, a HUGE black Lab appeared, with a big, friendly bark that was so much like our Scooby in looks, size and sound it quite took my breath.
Quite a shock this morning! We were walking along the main road, into the sun so poor visibility, when Coco suddenly grabbed something from the pavement, he turned to me - with a big r.a.t. in his mouth - probably knocked by a car. In unison, me and OH shout "COCO LEAVE". Coco immediately drops his prize, which stood up, dazed, and hobbled into the hedge! Coco was surprised, we were surprised - we all thought it was dead! Coco was VERY interested in the hedge on the way back, but the was no sign of it. I do hope it was OK.
