A friend would like a Westie puppy. She went to see a puppy only to find out that there were 60 bitches on the property! She has been longing for a puppy for a long time and is now in the right place in her life for a dog. She has the biggest heart I know but brave enough to walk away, I know how tough that would have been for her. Being a novice dog owner, even an experienced one, spotting a puppy farm when they'd do anything to pull wool over your eyes and pull your heart strings, is tricky business.
Good for her. If everyone did that these places would go out of business. The temptation to ‘rescue’ a pup would also be huge...
I was wondering about how she could report it. i'll see if I can find a web link to send to her. She won't want to confront anyone in person but maybe she will anonymously on line.
They will just take the info but to be honest they are probably aware. I see if I can find an website
Horrible practices , full of misery for the poor dogs , and often sick pups too , so pleased your friend had the courage to turn away x
Glad your friend walked away but this puppy farm has to be reported or there will be another person along to buy a puppy which just perpetuates these horrific practices. I hope you can encourage your friend to contact the RSPCA or the Police. xx
Many of what we call 'puppy farms' are operating legally and are licensed by local councils. One such 'business' has just been re-licensed by the council despite much opposition from both locals and welfare organisations. Even worse than the 'puppy farms' are those pups advertised as being home reared but have actually only been brought into a house for the purpose of selling them.Much harder to spot for the unwary.
