Anyone else have problems with nipping, tugging and general lunacy first thing? Running out of distraction/time out ideas! 14 weeks old, all baby teeth still and they hurt! I get he missed usg overnight and don't want to put him back in crate he just left but even his claws hurt. Covered in scratches and nip marks. He is up for an hour and a half before we leave for an hour a d is fine when I return. He is relatively bitey during day but learning leave and off quite well but its hard to grab a toy when he is welded to a delicate bit of flesh!

They do grow out of it. I promise! In the meantime wear tough jeans and boots and have toys in your pockets or stuffed down the cushions of your couch and chairs etc. Perhaps scattering some of his kibble around the room for him to find will distract him for a while. If all else fails there are some very good armour makers still around............

The first morning DH and I came down in our bare feet and dressing gowns and felt the full force of those razor sharp teeth - we always got dressed first thing before we came down after that. I put my boots on and kept them on! I put all her breakfast kibble in a feeder ball as well. Gave her cardboard boxes and empty plastic drink bottles - kept her busy. She was usually then ready for a sleep.

Ta all. I know this gets better, been here before, but 12 years ago am sure I was fitter lol. Plus we live in a bungalow so he hears everything we do and knows exactly where things are hidden. Breeder missed a trick selling him to the security service am sure! At least I am assured nice new pajamas at Xmas cos even my hubby can't miss the fact all mine have holes in from morning greetings! Furry beasty hasn't seen me for an hour and has just said hi and waddled off to his blanket! Just to make me feel bad for dissing him on internet hana

    Hi

I face a similar issue with my 10 week puppy. Keep some treats handy in the morning (keep them at ur bedside at night), when u wake up make him do few commands ans treat him , or play fetch to get his early morning energy out, then give him his breakfast . It works for me so far

    Cheers

I like to wear pocket t-shirts. When Murph says hello to me the first thing he does is check that pocket!

Plastic drink bottles. There seem to be good ones and not so good ones. The heavier ones are perfect for a game we play in the backyard. I use one of those chucker things to flip them in the air. He just loves it. Murph is not into destroying things so it works out well for us. Oh, the other thing he likes is thinner plant pots. He will go get one when he is tired of playing tennis ball.

Drink bottles rejected here! Plastic plant pots are his thing too. The noise on hardwood floors ups the fun. And dosing cap for washing liquid. Chases them round like a hockey puck. I have to look in garden to find one when I do a wash. Have to say he was noticeably calmer this week with nipping and grabbing so message is sinking in that it is important for humans to wash, dress and eat unscathed!
