Hi. I have a 14 month old black bitch, Beetle. She is very lively and seems extremely healthy. However, I have just noticed tiny black spots around her nipples. They don't seem to bother her too much. Any thoughts on these please?

    Hi there!

I’ve only had male dogs so can’t help you I’m afraid. Just didn’t want you to think you are being ignored. I don’t recall seeing this specific issue discussed here but I don’t see every post, either.

If these spots are not bothering her that is good. Perhaps a call to the vet might be useful?

Maybe someone will chime in who has some experience with this...

    Hi

It might be the same, but then again. Ours looked like black tiny spots.
Is she spayed yet? We had this with Vanilla prior to her and vet said it was linked to 'Estrogen'. If not spayed produce more, now not so much (obvious I know).
When you wipe it it comes off, but obviously it was sensitive for Vanilla, so we only did it now and again. It was not around all just some.

    Just a thought process.

But would get the vet to take a look if you are worried.
I always either ring or take a trip if I see anything out of the ordinary.

Does she lick her nipples a lot? I’ve got no experience with bitches, but my boy has blackened areas - around his balls and a nipple - where he licked a lot from being itchy. Vet isn’t concerned as long as his itching is under control and the areas don’t become lick granulomas.

Jess has these. She is about 18 months old, unspayed. I've never worried about it as they don't seem to bother or irritate her. Will be interested to hear what they are though!

Are they a bit like blackheads?

In Jess's case - yes, a bit. She is hairier than she used to be so I don't think I could get a good photo. She has one that is like a raised pimple with a black head that is just next to a nipple. And then she has little black spots that are about the same size as a blackhead but I don't think that's what they are.

But maybe OP's dog is different?

Maybe? but Moos always got them. Vets said they were just spots I just keep an eye on them. I would just get it checked out.
