Hi there, many thanks for your help and I will check this range out. Daisy May is nine weeks now, is it really just over a week since we got her... it’s gone so quick, it’s been so busy with socialising, car journeys, clicker charging/training, first stage recall, and crate training. She is such a little beauty and so responsive, I haven’t had to lure her into a sit, she does it herself, I haven’t named it yet, I can kneel down with a treat in my hand and she sits still and just looks into my eyes just waiting for the click , at mealtime, she sits and waits until I put her dish down, I’m so looking forward to training this little girl we are both novices and hopefully I can prove to the various people including two trainers that I have recently met that chocs are not all untrainable and loopy!! I have Daisy May’s dad, choc lab Ludovic’s bio ready to show them as he is a working gun dog as well as winning some shows. I went along last Sunday without puppy to watch a (KC accredited) puppy training class, and will be taking her along this Sunday, I have been told it’s ok to put her down before her second vax but I may just hold her for now.

@Jacqui Neil I have the most wonderful choc boy, Benson, he is 100% show lab but bright as a button, he has been on shoots with me and certainly did not disgrace himself. He is eager to learn and LOVES training :). Maybe he is a little loopy, but that just adds to his wonderful charm! :inlove:

I also have a show-line choc who is very keen to learn and I do gundog training with. Her parents are both qualified for Crufts for life (at the last one, her dad won his class) and her mum is a working gun dog, who works a huge amount every season.
Don't let anyone ever tell you (which they will) that show line dogs are stupid, or chocolate Labs are stupid. They're just brilliant :)

Daisy May comes from show-line and working, I am amazed at how responsive she is at only nine and a bit weeks, I must admit as a first time lab owner (always longed for a choc), I was a bit taken aback by the negative comments and the other one that’s been expressed several times ... good luck you will need it...! I am not phased though, she is beautiful and clever!

I had one person say to me "oh, chocolates are untrainable". Squidge was about 18 weeks at the time, and sat beautifully quietly at heel while he talked nonsense to me. Yes, untrainable. Right.

Here's a little video of stuff I was doing with her at five months:

You might be interested to see some of the stuff in my blog about the early training I did with her https://thislittledoggy.com/ :)
