Don't you have instant junk food in Australia? A Pot Noodle is a large plastic pot with a tangle of dried noodles, dried "vegetables" and highly flavoured powder. And a sachet of sauce - to taste. Cooking instructions -add boiling water -wait 2 mins, stir, wait 2 mins - season with sachet contents & consume. No microwace required. Only washing up is the fork. I thought there was only 3 flavours - but I've just googled - there's a gourmet selection!

You haven't had noodles in a cup until you've had the real deal Japanese or Korean ones. I tried pot noodle chow mein and had to throw it out
Ah, we had Woolworths, once, but they went bust a few years. And they weren't supermarkets. I don't really know what you'd call them. They were the best as kids, always got our pick-n-mix from there

Many years ago I had Maggi noodles. In the square packets. Japanese and Korean noodles are the best. I haven’t tried ‘in a cup’ ones though. Love the Korean sweet potato starch noodles (they are dried and you have to boil them). So chewy in an awesome way. Not resembling sweet potato at all. You make a dish called chapchae from them. If you are a Korean noodle fan and haven’t tried these then give them a whirl
I love this global discussion of instant noodles, of all things! When I was at university in the US the standard poor student food was Top Ramen. Noodles in a brick shape wrapped in plastic. Berk. And by the way, I question anyone whose go-to comfort food is cup noodles. Pizza and Ben & Jerry's all the way.
He seems to have got over his fear of it . However having trained him with treats when it goes ping, he now appears to be looking for a treat every time anything in the house within his hearing makes a vaguely ping like noise - think I'm being conned here .
No, don't think I'm really a super noodle fan. Ripple, however, was very keen when I opened the packet of flavouring and I had a job to stop him grabbing it off the side . And to think I waste my money buying him all this expensive food .

I think that maybe they're the sort of thing you have to become conditioned to as a student, and then they stay with you for life

Looking at something like the pressure king pro.... I remember them from the old days when you released a red hot metal plug which my inquisitive brother burnt his hand on...
