Hi, We've just signed up to this forum. What a great place to share the love of labs! We lost our beloved black boy Harvey (12) a few months ago, we went through a total time of indescribable loss. It can't be compared to losing a human, but I've never experienced a sadness like it. After a lot of thought we decided that we had to get another puppy. Not to replace our boy, more to distract us with something we both love. So, we found a fab breeder and are picking up our new boy in a few weeks! Just preparing the house now for the chaos that is a lab puppy.
Sorry for your loss, there is no sadness like it. And welcome to you from Mags, Tatze and Keir from Manchester UK Tatze is my pet dog, a black Lab and she's four years old. Tatze means 'paw' in German. Keir is my fifth Guide Dog puppy, a yellow Golden Retriever/Flatcoat cross and he's six months old. New pup - exciting times! I highly recommend the Happy Puppy Handbook. .
Hello and welcome to you, from Poppy, Merlin and me in Germany. I am sorry about the loss of your dear Harvey, and look forward to hearing all about your new addition!
Hi from me and my mischievous bundle of joy, Stanley! Do you have any pics of your puppy? We love puppy pics
Hi and welcome from me and 4 year old girl, Harley. Sorry to hear about Harvey - I'm sure he will always be in your hearts. Good luck with the new pup - any names yet?
Hi there - thank you! and hello to naughty Stanley too. I tried to upload a photo but it asked for a URL and I was just trying to upload from my phone? So, I'm not quite sure how to upload.....
Thank you and hi Harley! Yes, we're going to call him Gunner (Boots). Harvey was Harvey Boots - so its a little nod to him too! but mostly Harvey had a million other names like Mooch and Doof! you know how it is .....
Hello and welcome from me too . I am sorry for your loss , I lost my young Labrador a month ago, so I understand the pain of a pet passing, but they do leave wonderful memories . Welcome also to little Gunner , adventures ahead ! x
Welcome to you and Gunner, from Ariel (1 year) and I. So sorry to hear about Harvey, it leaves such a huge hole, but also so many beautiful memories. This site and it's members will be a wealth of knowledge and fun for you. Looking forward to sharing in your upcoming adventures!!
Helo and welcome from Joy (black lab, 7 months). We lost our lovely Solstice at the end of February and you are so right about the new dog not being a replacement but someone else to love. Looking forward to hearing more about young Gunner Boots!
Hello and welcome from me, Wispa (6) and Tuppence (4). No, your new puppy won't be a replacement for Harvey, but a whole new labrador adventure. Harvey will continue to have that special place in your memories. We lost our first black lab (but not first dog) Penny some years ago when she was only seven and couldn't face having another lab for some years. After having two other dogs, we then had Wispa (yellow lab) as a puppy, then Tuppence (black). They are very different in character from Penny and from each other, but each of our dogs has been very special. Enjoy those new adventures with Gunner Boots!
Hi there, thank you for your message and I'm sorry too that you lost your young one. Painful. They do leave lovely memories!
Hello and thank you. Sorry about your dear Penny. Hello to Wispa and Tuppence! You're right, I appreciate your words, they have their own characters. We'll always feel blessed Harvey was such a fantastic, lovely boy. Gunner will be Gunner it'll be lovely finding out about his little character too.
Hi there, and to Joy, 7months - still a handful! Sorry about dear Solstice (lovely name). Thank you for those words, that's how I'm hoping to feel.
Hello, thank you so much and hello to Ariel. So true, massive hole. You're right, the memories are what keeps you smiling. I still open the fridge door and see him suddenly sitting on my foot! It's been so nice to have all theses lovely messages from like minded people who understand. My husband and are really looking forward to the new adventure- roll on 22nd December and the chaos.
