Oh, Karen, what a worry. I hope it doesn't escalate. Do you think she's experiencing any extra stress at the moment? Maybe routine changes or just increased household activity/stress due to Christmas?
poor you and poppy I hope everything settles down for you all try and relax and enjoy Christmas with your family.ruth
At least she doesn’t sound too disturbed by it if food is still her priority! I hope it all settles down again, though, and Poppy is ok.
So sorry to read this Karen , you do right to keep a note of any signs , for future record . My thoughts are with you both xxx
Hopefully that’s all it is. We sometimes think Snowie is acting out of sorts, wonder if a seizure is brewing, and then he’s back to normal. He is medicated, though, so we expect symptoms to be milder for him now. I hope Poppy has a good sleep and rest and that this passes. Does she feel hot when this happens? We sometimes use an ice pack to cool Snowie if we think it’s needed (I’ve read somewhere that ice packs are recommended), or he takes a dip in the pond which seems to “reset” him back to normal.
Karen, I cannot remember if Poppy is on medication apart from Diazepam when needed? If not, perhaps the time has come to start, well not quite yet, but if she starts fitting again. I am cat sitting for a cat with epilepsy, his fits have just started to increase so there is an increase in medication.
Thanks everyone; Poppy seems fine this morning, and has been out for a walk and even had a dip in the pond in the wood. She's currently lying on the couch with me and Merlin, as I have a horrid cold and am feeling very under the weather and sorry for myself. @snowbunny there's nothing I can put my finger on that might have stressed Poppy more than normal. On the contrary; I'm home on vacation as school is closed for three weeks, OH is home, all our visitors (we have had visitors the last four weekends in a row!) have gone and there is zero stress here for us as regards Christmas. Oh wait - as I am writing this it occurs to me that a lack of stress, or rather a sudden relaxation in stress, seems to be a trigger for her. Huh, interesting, I didn't make that connection until I actually wrote it down. @MF, I checked her temperature, but it seemed normal. @Stacia - she's not on medication as yet, particularly as there was a year's hiatus between one cluster and the next. We'll just wait and see for now - steady as she goes, as they say. Hey ho, never a dull moment...
That's good - hope she stays ok. It's interesting about the relaxation in stress... sounds a bit like migraine too! Hope your cold goes soon.
This is similar to what @Oberon said about panic attacks in people - that they often occur after the trigger has gone. I hope you feel better soon, colds are miserable - you can feel utterly wretched, but it's still "just" a cold. Ugh.
Oh yes, I remember reading that on your Willow thread. Very interesting... Thanks. I feel completely washed out and unable to do anything. I was supposed to give a class today (training with shot, using a starter pistol) but feel so pants I had to cancel it.
