Hello everyone I am worried as my pup got a electric shock! I I had taken him for a walk, as usual he was sniffing around and there was a wire without covering (of a Garden lamp) apparently which touched his nose and he got a shock! Though as he touched the wire he automatically moved away but he squealed badlyfor almost 30 sec Please tell me do I need to worry and what should I do to take care of him. As his mouth had a foul smell at that time and I don't know I am assuming or what but I feel he is getting less active day by day...
Hi JennyIndia. Take him to the vet for a check-up as soon as possible. He may have suffered electrical burns.
Have you looked in his mouth? I would definitely take him to the vets as soon as you can, especially if he is being less active. He could be in pain.
thank you all, there are no burn marks but sometimes I feel he is not active Else he runs, plays but...
What do you think can be happening I'm scared... The vets are on leave coz of Christmas and new year... What should I do
Jenny, when did the electric shock happen? You have said that his behaviour is less active than before? What are the things that he used to do when he was more active? What does he do now that he is less active? And how old is he?
Yes as @Oberon has suggested as much information as possible, however, the best option would be to contact a vet as soon as possible. Electrocution can cause damage which is not apparent until a couple of days later. So keep a close eye out for signs of panting, or distress, pale gums, ulcers in the mouth, and lack of appetite. Is he pooping and weeing normally? Until you can see a vet I would keep your pup calm and rested. Reduce exercise and walks until he has been checked out thoroughly by a vet.
We have had the same experience with Finn! He got checked by the vet. He was all right! He couldn’t walk as he used to, he was tired after the incident. But luckily no harm done. The vet told us we did the right thing to come, for he could have suffered cardiac arrhythmia....!
