Why has he become so restless just doesn't seem to be able to settle for more than 5 minutes. He has been walked, had a short nap, been given a chew which lasted 20minutes keeps wandering around I'm following like I don't know what!
Maybe he feels he just hasn't done enough today! I notice with Cassie, she's 20 months, and sometimes it's like her brain is still active, and it can differ from day today. Do you do training or do any games with him on the walks? This can make a difference to how they settle down. Assuming of course that he's well in himself and not trying to tell you he's got a problem.
That is possible as the weather here was terrible today so I limited for first time ever his morning walk. My son took him out briefly this afternoon, we went out. I usually do lots of different things but not able to today. Thank you for that. It might be his brain. He seems well in himself, thank goodness. Rest of the family seem to think if he is misbehaving then give him something to chew!! Roll on back to school and work then I can get my puppy back to a routine
I notice with Nelly, that if her walks are curtailed , she is more unsettled , it only has to be by a small margin but she knows its not the same ! x
It was foul here too , not the sort of weather you want to go out in at all , so I quite understand !
I find that a training session in the lounge room does a lot to cure restlessness when we can’t go out. Obi especially loves indoor retrieving, or finding a hidden dummy. We also do heeling and tricks.....anything really Even 5 mins of this helps.

Yes, it does make it more difficult. I try and do things in the house if for some reason outside time is limited, and of course it does happen. Do you do clicker training? It's worth having a look at the Forum Challenges for some ideas. I f Cassie is mythering for some reason I get her to do the cross paw challenge, from October, that usually wears her out!
To be honest I haven't done much clicker training at all how bad am I! Plus I need to find the clicker as I think it would help. I will see if I can find that section thank you
I do a lot of 'find it' games, either by hiding treats around a room (under blankets, in toys, under toys etc) or her ball. She loves this game as it helps tire her out. We do training such as sit, wait, figure of 8 through my legs, down, letting me check her paws, ears, teeth, belly etc. Hope this helps a bit.
Some days are like that, but you'll find a way to deal with them , it's like anything really, rough with the smooth. I think too as they grow up their needs differ, just as his bladder matures and he is housetrained so his brain matures and he needs more to do! Yes, I've had a good day with Cassie, a lovely long walk today this morning, just us two, the first time for what seems like ages over the festivities I was all hers today, and she didn't eat any poo !! And then she spends the day by the woodburner
I find his needs tricky sometimes I get used to a routine and then for whatever reason he changes which is good I assume? I'm glad to report he has a very good bladder and he has been housetrained within 2days of getting Mason. The walk sounds just lovely think I just need to take Mason out myself without getting cross at kids who don't seem to be helping!! Well done Cassie good girl keep it up. What is it about poo! Mason rolls in fox poo!
I find it’s way easier to take the 5-10 minutes from what I’m doing to train or play “ find it “ than it is to deal with 30 mins of restlessness, rambunctiousness or negative behaviour. Especially on bad weather days.
