Hi, again!!!!! Advice required!! Larry(4months) has been on millies wolfheart for a few weeks now, breakfast 7, lunch 12ish and tea 5:30. Goes for walks mid morning and around 10pm, goes in the garden between walks and for a few mins before we go to bed between 10-12. But every night this week he's woken in the night usually between 2-4 so we've let him into the garden and he's having a poo. How can we stop this guys? Are we just letting him get used to waking us at any time? We're all so tired and go back to school/work in a few days!!!
Just a thought , you mention walks in the morning but not afternoons ? I know Larry is out in the garden but sometimes they get distracted from what they are supposed to be doing out there ! My own girl rarely performs in the mornings, but on our afternoon walk she will often do three poos , almost like she has been saving it up !
Maybe feed his last feed later so that he needs his next poo in the morning? 8pm is not too late for the last feed.
I would push lunch to 1pm, and then a small tea at 6.30pm as @Boogie suggested. Check the amounts you are feeding as well, Millies Wolfheart is a good quality food and you may be able to drop the amounts slightly. Of course assuming he is a good healthy weight! A good tip as to whether you are able to drop the amount of kibble is to monitor the consistency of his poos, so if towards the end of the day they become largish and softer, (non-kickable ) then you can probably cut down a wee bit. Some treats also contain high amounts of fillers and fibre.
His meal times used to be 7,1,7 but we were advised to give them a bit earlier as he was waking at 6 bursting for a poo, so would you go back to those times again? His poo is solid now definitely.
Personally, I would rather get up at 6 am than the middle of the night. You could increase his breakfast, and reduce his supper, so less is in there so to speak!
